We are currently seeking a passionate and talented Catering Executive Chef 2 to lead our Catering kitchen at UAB in Birmingham, AL. Reporting directly to the Campus Executive Chef, this role demands an energetic culinary professional with a proven background in fine dining and catering operations. The Executive Chef 2 will be instrumental in elevating the catering experience, overseeing menu planning, purchasing, inventory control, recipe adherence, and food safety compliance to ensure that Sodexo’s renowned culinary standards are consistently met. This leader will actively balance hands-on cooking responsibilities with mentoring frontline team members, fostering their sense of ownership and helping to develop their culinary skills to build a strong talent pipeline.

A critical component of this role includes collaborating with clients to conceive and implement customized menus that align with sustainability goals and client expectations. The ideal candidate must possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a keen passion for culinary innovation paired with operational excellence. Knowledge in automated food inventory and management systems will be leveraged to optimize food cost analysis and production forecasting while maintaining high standards in sanitation and workplace safety. Job Duties

  • be responsible for purchasing, menu compliance, inventory, food cost analysis and food production forecasting

  • ensure food safety, sanitation and workplace safety standard compliance
  • have working knowledge of automated food inventory, ordering, production and management systems
