Job Description
Riderwood Village by Erickson Senior Living is a beautiful 120-acre continuing care retirement community located in Silver Spring, Maryland. As part of a growing national network of communities managed by Erickson Senior Living, one of the country’s largest and most respected providers of senior living and healthcare, Riderwood is dedicated to helping people live better lives. The community promises a vibrant lifestyle, financial stability, and focused health and well-being services for all residents and staff. Erickson Senior Living and its affiliates are deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace, free from unlawful discrimination and harassment, supporting employees across diverse backgrounds and identities.
We are currently seeking a talented, experienced, and innovative Executive Chef to lead culinary operations for Riderwood's two distinctive dining venues: Fireside Restaurant, a full-service fine dining destination offering an elevated dinner experience, and Potomac Café, a vibrant all-day café featuring fresh deli selections and made-to-order breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This exciting role provides an opportunity for a passionate hospitality leader to drive our Signature Dining Programs by emphasizing from-scratch cooking, premium ingredients, and creative chef-inspired menus.
The Executive Chef will be responsible for providing strong leadership across all culinary operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, consistency, presentation, food safety, and robust team development. The role requires fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence to ensure an outstanding dining experience for every guest. The Executive Chef oversees efficient and high-quality food purchasing, preparation, and presentation within budget. They will supervise all kitchen staff, manage back-of-house systems, core menus, and recipe development. Maintaining kitchen and equipment sanitation through rigorous monthly internal sanitation audits, and ensuring compliance with all federal and state food safety regulations like the Health Department and HAACP are critical responsibilities of the position.
Our Executive Chef will partner closely with the General Manager to promptly address and resolve food production or presentation issues, consistently maintaining the highest standards of food quality and plate presentation. The leadership position demands a minimum of 3 years' experience as an Executive Chef, with fine dining experience being a strong plus. The ideal candidate must possess deep knowledge of à la carte and catering trends, focusing on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and food presentation. Additionally, proficiency in PC software and POS systems including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is essential.
We offer a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, ranging from $80,000 to $90,000 annually, plus eligibility for an annual bonus. Riderwood Village also provides comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans with wellness reimbursements and telemedicine. Generous paid time off (PTO) and paid volunteer hours are provided in accordance with state laws. Our team members benefit from a 401(k) plan with a 3% company match for those aged 18 and over, onsite medical centers, health and well-being resources for employees and their families, education assistance, certification reimbursement, and access to more than 6,000 online courses. Riderwood is an environment that encourages professional growth and offers opportunities to advance as we expand and open new communities.
Joining Riderwood means becoming part of a respected organization that values work-life balance, flexibility, and continuous learning. Our commitment to employee wellness and development, alongside our mission to enhance the lives of seniors, makes this a rewarding leadership role in senior living hospitality. If you are a culinary professional with a passion for excellence and innovation, Riderwood Village by Erickson Senior Living is the place to make your impact and grow your career.
