Job Description

Crystal Mountain Resort is the largest ski resort in Washington and a premier destination for skiing, snowboarding, and summer adventures in the Pacific Northwest. This Executive Chef position is a senior leadership role within the Food & Beverage department at Crystal Mountain Resort in Washington. Reporting to the Director of Food & Beverage, the Executive Chef is accountable for all culinary and stewarding operations across multiple year-round and seasonal dining venues. This leadership role is responsible for delivering exceptional food quality, strategic menu development, culinary team training, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. The Executive Chef must skillfully manage labor and cost controls while driving innovative dining experiences that align with the resort’s vision of operational excellence and guest satisfaction. Key responsibilities include overseeing culinary staff, mentoring leadership teams, collaborating on menu creation, and implementing food production standards that consistently meet guest expectations. The position demands a highly organized, dependable, and creative culinary professional who thrives in a high-volume environment and can foster a positive and productive work culture. This role offers a competitive salary range of $95,000 to $115,000 annually plus bonus eligibility and includes opportunities for growth, year-round employment, and numerous employee perks linked to the ski resort lifestyle. Work conditions require the ability to ski or snowboard at an intermediate level to access all venues, flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and the physical capability to perform various job duties. Job Requirements

  • Ability to ski or snowboard at an intermediate level
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 20 pounds occasionally
  • Manual dexterity to operate computer and office equipment
  • Auditory and visual ability for computer and phone use
  • Ability to work extended periods sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking
  • Ability to work extended periods standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling
  • Effective communication skills for guests, supervisors, and team
  • Must be able to perform all essential job duties satisfactorily

Job Qualifications

  • Degree in culinary arts, food production, hotel and restaurant management preferred
  • Minimum 10 years on-the-job culinary experience including at least 4 years as Executive Chef
  • Creative problem-solver with operational experience
  • Demonstrated organization, dependability, and execution skills in high-volume venues
  • Strong team building and development skills
  • Skilled in kitchen equipment, safety equipment, computer skills including advanced MS Office
  • Knowledge of local TCPHD regulations
  • Ability to produce high volume quality work timely
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite including Excel and Teams, FoodTrak, PMIX, sales reports, and P&L statements

Job Duties

  • Ensure great guest service through consistent execution of all menus and recipes, train and manage all culinary and stewarding personnel, review evaluate and coach all kitchen personnel including regular staff meetings, coach and support Executive Sous Chef with daily kitchen operations ensuring high-quality product and minimal waste, oversee preparation and execution and collaborate on design and creation of all menus, lead culinary and food safety in food festivals and special events, ensure efficient preparation and presentation of all food items to agreed specifications
