Job Description

Bobbie's is a historic stainless-steel diner located in Savannah, Georgia, renowned for its classic breakfast and lunch fare served in a nostalgic and inviting atmosphere. This establishment embodies the charm and tradition of American diner culture while maintaining high standards of culinary quality and exceptional service. As part of a vibrant community, Bobbie's is dedicated to providing guests with a memorable dining experience that honors both heritage and contemporary tastes. The diner operates in collaboration with the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), ensuring that its offerings meet the university's rigorous standards for food quality, presentation, and customer service.

The role of Executive Chef at Bobbie's is a pivotal position where culinary expertise, leadership, and operational management converge. This full-time position involves comprehensive oversight of all kitchen operations, including menu creation, scheduling, food cost control, and inventory management. The Executive Chef works closely with the executive director and director of fine dining to develop innovative and diverse menus that accommodate various dietary needs. One of the key responsibilities is to maintain SCAD's high standards by ensuring every dish meets quality and presentation expectations.

In addition to managing daily kitchen activities, the Executive Chef fosters a collaborative environment by supervising and mentoring kitchen staff, encouraging professional growth and skill development. This leadership extends to planning and executing catering for special events, aligning with both budgetary and quality goals. The role demands strict adherence to food safety regulations, implementation of best practices in food handling, and maintenance of kitchen equipment and cleanliness through organized schedules.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in similar leadership roles, preferably with at least five years of kitchen management experience in casual, high-volume settings. Skills in cost control, inventory management, and dish rotation are essential to efficiently balance cost efficiency with culinary excellence. The position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively liaise with front-of-house managers and service staff, ensuring a seamless dining experience for guests.

Bobbie's commitment to inclusion and diversity is integral to its workplace culture, reflecting SCAD’s broader values. The university fosters a respectful and welcoming community where authentic individuality is celebrated. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a positive and supportive team environment where innovative ideas and solutions are valued.

Applicants must be eligible to work full-time and possess ServeSafe certification, demonstrating compliance with federal and local food safety regulations. The position requires less than 10% travel and encompasses working primarily within the university’s standard workweek, which may include weekends and evenings to meet business needs. Bobbie’s Executive Chef role provides a unique opportunity to lead a historic dining establishment while collaborating with a prestigious educational institution, combining culinary passion with operational excellence in a thriving, community-oriented setting.
