Job Description
Resort Lifestyle Communities (RLC) is a rapidly growing, family-owned company that operates over 60 communities nationwide, dedicated to serving seniors with respect, kindness, and excellence. RLC stands out as a leader in the senior living industry by fostering a close-knit, servant-hearted community that embraces core values such as Respect, Honesty, Kindness & Compassion, and Service Excellence. Their mission is to create an exceptional living experience for seniors by focusing on four essential goals: happy employees, happy residents, full occupancy, and on-budget operations. This foundation helps ensure quality service and sustainable growth across all their communities.
This particular opportunity is for an Executive Chef role within an Independent Senior Living community at RLC. The Executive Chef will play a pivotal role in leading the Culinary and Dining teams to deliver fresh, scratch-made meals complemented by outstanding customer service. It is a highly hands-on position that requires immersion in daily kitchen operations and active participation from meal preparation to menu planning. The ability to connect with residents on a personal level is considered essential, as it enhances the dining experience and fosters a sense of belonging and satisfaction among community members.
The Executive Chef will spearhead RLC’s Signature Freedom Dining program, a cornerstone program designed to provide residents a luxury resort-style dining experience that is both delicious and flexible. This includes offering a variety of dining options and ensuring beautifully presented plates every day. The culinary leadership provided by the Executive Chef contributes to an elevated, worry-free dining environment, which is one of the top reasons that residents cherish their home at the community.
Candidates considered for this position should bring both culinary skills and heartfelt leadership to the role. They must be at least 21 years of age and possess proven leadership experience in culinary preparation, cooking, and team supervision. Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the workweek primarily spans Sunday through Thursday with additional evenings, weekends, and holiday support as needed. A high school diploma or GED is mandatory, while a culinary degree or related education is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook is expected for managing administrative tasks.
Professionalism is a must, including strong English communication skills, a polished appearance, and a positive, service-minded attitude. The Executive Chef must be adept at handling resident feedback with patience and professionalism. Required certifications include ServSafe Manager certification (or the ability to obtain it within 90 days) and local food handler permits within two weeks of hire.
This full-time position offers competitive compensation and benefits, including paid time off, 401(k) with employer match, and a flexible $341 benefit stipend per pay period which can be applied toward health, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, HSA/FSA/LSA accounts, accident and hospital indemnity, and legal and identity theft protection. As part of a fast-growing, supportive company, this role offers a purposeful career path in a beautiful resort-style environment, with leadership that values its employees’ contributions and personal growth.
