At Hyatt, the Executive Chef plays a critical and visible role within the hotel’s leadership structure as a member of the Executive Committee. Reporting directly to the hotel General Manager, the Executive Chef is entrusted with overseeing all kitchen operations and ensuring that culinary service meets Hyatt’s elevated standards. This role demands a blend of creativity, leadership, operational expertise, and excellent communication skills. The Executive Chef is responsible for planning menus that align with guest preferences and market trends, managing food provisioning to optimize inventory and reduce waste, maintaining impeccable food preparation quality and sanitation across all kitchen activities, and coaching culinary staff to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

The Executive Chef at Hyatt is tasked with directing training programs to build a competent and motivated culinary team capable of maintaining consistent excellence in food handling and presentation. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive culinary experience in hotel environment
  • At least 4 years in a senior culinary role
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Ability to work long hours and under pressure
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain Hyatt service standards and procedures
  • Experience working with diverse cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
  • 6 years or more of progressive hotel culinary experience, typically with Hyatt
  • Previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Experience training food prep employees
  • Ability to instill safety and sanitation habits in all employees
  • Teach employees the importance of consistency in preparation and presentation
  • Thorough knowledge of food handling and preparation techniques
  • Ensure that level of quality, portion control, and plate presentation is adhered to consistently
  • Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
  • Maintain communications with Corporate Staff
