This role is for a Kitchen Manager at the prestigious JW Marriott property located at 5150 Westheimer Rd, Houston, Texas. This is a full-time management position offering an annual salary ranging from $101,000 to $129,000, with eligibility for bonuses. The Kitchen Manager is accountable for the overall success of daily kitchen operations, overseeing all food preparation and support areas including banquets, room service, restaurants, bar/lounge, employee cafeteria, dish room, and purchasing. This leadership role requires the manager to lead the kitchen team by example, personally performing culinary tasks while managing staff and food-related functions.

The Kitchen Manager plays a vital role in continuously enhancing both guest and employee satisfaction while maximizing financial performance. A major responsibility includes supervising all kitchen areas to ensure consistent, high-quality products that meet the property’s standards. The manager must ensure strict adherence to sanitation and food safety standards, maintaining certifications and guidelines across all culinary operations. In addition, the role involves guiding and developing staff directly, including managing performance standards, conducting coaching, mentoring, and administering disciplinary actions as necessary.

Key functions of this position include leading the kitchen management team, managing and directing day-to-day operations, and providing training on new cooking techniques and equipment. The Kitchen Manager sets and maintains culinary goals, participates in budgeting processes, and controls department expenses such as food costs, supplies, uniforms, and equipment. Menu development direction, quality control of raw and cooked food products, and creating attractive food presentations are essential components of the role.
