This job opportunity is with a hotel owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Makeready. As a separate entity from Marriott International, the franchisee controls all aspects of the hotel's employment policies, including hiring, firing, compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment. Employment in this position means working directly for the franchisee, not Marriott International. The hotel itself is named The Alida, located on Savannah's revitalized riverfront. It is a 173-room establishment that celebrates the spirit of entrepreneurship symbolized by Alida Harper Fowlkes, a celebrated local entrepreneur. The hotel blends modern life with timeless Southern charm, epitomizing the essence of Southern hospitality.
The role available is for an Executive Chef who will lead the culinary operations at The Alida. This role is pivotal in aligning the culinary team to achieve excellence in all food and beverage aspects. The Executive Chef is responsible not only for creating and modifying the restaurant's menu to uphold high-quality standards but also for mentoring and developing a unified team of hospitality professionals. This includes overseeing recipe development, food preparation, presentation, safety, and operational efficiency in the kitchen. The Executive Chef works closely with the Food & Beverage General Manager to ensure that guests experience impeccable quality in their dining.
This position requires a passionate individual with a strong commitment to nurturing connections through great food and conversation. The Executive Chef is essentially the 'chief' in control of the back-of-house operations and must exhibit leadership, precision, and creativity. The role includes monitoring food and labor costs, implementing food safety protocols, recruiting and training culinary staff, and ensuring that every dish meets a high standard of excellence. Working in this role offers salaried pay starting at $120,000, unlimited paid time off, medical benefits, hotel discounts, parking facilities, bonus eligibility, and other retail and restaurant discounts.
