Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team, ensuring the seamless execution of dishes from conception to presentation while upholding our commitment to quality and food safety.

The role of Head Chef is pivotal within our restaurant. This leadership position involves overseeing all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and cleanliness, to create a well-organized and efficient work environment. The Head Chef will assign and supervise tasks to chefs and cooks, ensuring that food is prepared and presented to the highest standards. A significant part of this role includes planning menus, setting prices according to ingredient availability, and maintaining excellent vendor relationships to secure the best quality supplies. The Head Chef will also be responsible for conducting monthly inventory assessments, scheduling equipment maintenance, and leading recruitment and training efforts for kitchen staff.

Additionally, the Head Chef collaborates closely with the general manager and owner to align kitchen procedures with the restaurant’s strategic goals. Resolving operational challenges promptly is crucial to maintaining smooth service and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate must be capable of inspiring and developing their team, demonstrating strong time management skills, and being proficient with computer software used for scheduling and store operations. This role requires physical stamina and flexibility to work a minimum of 50 hours per week, sometimes adjusting hours based on business needs. Job Requirements

  • Associate degree in culinary arts or equivalent
  • Minimum five years of hospitality or related experience
  • Ability to work minimum 50 hours per week
  • Physical ability to perform duties including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Computer literacy including MS Office and scheduling software
  • Effective communication and organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Direct kitchen operations including food preparation cooking and cleanup
  • Assign tasks and supervise chefs and cooks in the preparation and presentation of food
  • Maintain control of the kitchen to ensure that all tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively
  • Resolve issues as they arise so that customers continue to receive their orders in a timely manner
  • Make sure that all kitchen and wait staff adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Plan menus and set prices making adjustments based on ingredient availability
  • Inspect raw and cooked food items to guarantee the highest quality products
  • Collaborate with the general manager and owner to align kitchen operations with overarching goals
