This position is for a Kitchen Supervisor within the Kinseth Hotel Corporation. As a Kitchen Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the food preparation areas including the kitchen, pantry, and storeroom. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage scheduling, training, and development of kitchen staff while ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards. You will be involved in menu planning, inventory management, and budget assistance to control costs and reduce waste. The position demands supervisory skills to manage a team of up to 25 employees, ensuring all kitchen operations run smoothly and efficiently. You will also assist in setting pricing for food items and work closely with sales staff and customers to customize menus for special events. This role requires excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a professional image while upholding company policies. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • One to four years of related experience or training
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person, by telephone and writing
  • Ability to read and implement safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to analyze and interpret common financial reports
  • Ability to follow company policies and procedures
  • Physical ability to perform job functions including standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds and working in various kitchen environments
  • Willingness to work with safety precautions and handle crisis management situations
  • Must be able to supervise a team and handle employee relations including hiring, training, disciplining and performance appraisal

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or one to four years related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports
  • Ability to implement safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies
  • Ability to write speeches and articles conforming to prescribed styles
  • Ability to present information effectively to customers, management, public groups, or boards of directors
  • Strong communication skills in person, by telephone and in writing
  • Ability to understand, interpret and manipulate accounting concepts such as budgeting, cost analysis, financial planning, percentages, general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable and purchasing
  • Ability to problem-solve, collect and analyze data, draw conclusions, develop solutions and plan ahead
  • May require franchise specific certification

Job Duties

  • Hire, schedule, orient, train and develop kitchen staff including job duties, food production, sanitation, safety, guest satisfaction and company policies
  • Cook and carve meats, and prepare dishes such as sauces during rush periods and for banquets and social functions
  • Plan or participate in planning menus, preparing and portioning foods, and utilizing food surpluses and leftovers to prevent spoilage and waste
  • Specify number of servings to control portion costs
  • Supervise kitchen personnel to ensure cleanliness and equipment sanitation
  • Cook and taste, smell and observe food to ensure conformance with recipes and guest satisfaction
  • Supervise workers engaged in inventory, storage, and distribution of foodstuffs and supplies
  • Inventory and purchase foodstuffs, kitchen supplies, and equipment per purchasing guidelines
  • Assist in developing and maintain kitchen budget
  • Assist in setting prices for food items
  • Meet with sales staff, customers, or client groups to resolve menu inconsistencies or plan special menus
