Job Description

Independent Lifestyle Hotel is a design-led, locally sustainable focused hotel in the Midwest renowned for its commitment to culinary excellence and innovation. This high-profile, independent property has recently completed a major reinvestment, setting the stage for a new culinary chapter. The establishment boasts a state-of-the-art kitchen and a concept that has already gained significant traction within the community and among diners. The hotel features multiple outlets including a destination restaurant that generates up to $10 million annually, providing a dynamic and thriving environment for culinary leadership. Backed by ownership that is deeply committed to its culinary program, this hotel offers a unique blend of creative freedom and operational support designed to foster growth and innovation in its gastronomic offerings.

The role of Executive Chef at this prestigious hotel is far from a maintenance position. Instead, it is a dynamic opportunity designed for a chef eager to shape and define the culinary identity of a multi-outlet property. The Executive Chef will have full ownership of the food program across all restaurant, bar, and event spaces, heralding the next era of culinary creativity and operational excellence. This position demands a leader with an operator's mindset who can skillfully balance creativity with the realities of cost management, labor efficiency, and consistent quality. The kitchen is already high functioning and the culinary concept well established, allowing the new Executive Chef to focus on innovation and growth rather than rebuilding from scratch. Collaboration is key, with a strong front-of-house and beverage leadership team working together to create a seamless and memorable dining experience.

The culture within the kitchen and broader hospitality team is culture-first, promoting a positive, ego-free environment. This ethos nurtures team development, encourages retention, and sets a tone of professionalism and respect. Candidates suited for this role will be those who have previously excelled as Executive Chefs, Certified Dietitian Chefs, or strong Executive Sous Chefs ready to step into a leadership role. Experience managing high-volume operations or multiple outlets is essential, as is the ability to cultivate a team-oriented atmosphere that thrives on growth and development. This position offers competitive compensation with a base salary between $120,000 and $130,000 plus a 30% incentive potential. Additionally, relocation support, excellent benefits, and paid time off are provided, reflecting the hotel’s dedication to attracting top culinary talent. For culinary professionals seeking to elevate a food program to new heights in a supportive and innovative environment, this role presents a compelling career opportunity.
