Job Description
Garden of the Gods Resort and Club is a distinguished luxury resort located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Known for its stunning natural surroundings, upscale amenities, and exceptional guest experiences, the resort combines breathtaking mountain views with world-class hospitality. As a premier destination for both leisure and business travelers, the Garden of the Gods Resort and Club offers a variety of dining outlets, a scenic golf course, spa services, event spaces, and recreational facilities. The resort prides itself on delivering high standards of service and quality, making it a sought-after location for visitors from around the world seeking relaxation, adventure, and extraordinary hospitality.
The Executive Chef at Garden of the Gods Resort and Club plays a pivotal role in maintaining and elevating the culinary standards across all food and beverage outlets, including multiple dining venues, the Kissing Camels Club, Recreation Center, pools, in-room dining, and banquets. This leadership position is responsible not only for supervising the culinary team and managing food purchasing and production but also for creatively developing and continuously innovating engaging menus that reflect seasonal trends and distinct culinary purposes. The Executive Chef works closely with senior management, including the Vice President of Food and Beverage, to implement long-term culinary strategies aimed at maximizing revenue opportunities and enhancing guest satisfaction.
This role entails significant oversight of food quality, safety, sanitation protocols, labor and food cost management, and staff scheduling. The Executive Chef also supervises the Purchasing Manager and Stewarding Manager, ensuring smooth operations and efficiency throughout the kitchen and dining services. They are charged with maintaining high standards of food consistency and service, implementing proper culinary methods through regular staff training and evaluation, and ensuring all menus comply with dietary and allergy considerations. Furthermore, they oversee the cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas and participate actively in weekly meetings to align operations with the resort's goals.
The position demands a candidate who is highly motivated, organized, and capable of adapting to dynamic and sometimes high-pressure environments. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential to foster strong teamwork between culinary staff, sous chefs, front-of-house personnel, and sales and catering teams. Working at Garden of the Gods Resort and Club requires a commitment to delivering hospitality from the heart, emphasizing creativity, personal initiative, and teamwork to continually push the resort to new heights in guest and member experiences.
In addition to overseeing daily operations and menu creativity, the Executive Chef leads special event planning and execution throughout the year, contributing to the resort's reputation for outstanding culinary events and experiences. The role requires physical stamina to operate in a demanding culinary environment that involves extended periods of standing, lifting, and working around heat and kitchen equipment. The successful candidate will have a passion for excellence and a demonstrated ability to lead and inspire culinary teams toward exceptional performance and service delivery.
