The role of Executive Chef at Oak Manor Senior Living Community is a critical position focused on providing exceptional culinary experiences to the residents while managing the culinary operations efficiently. This position requires a dynamic and passionate culinary leader who will oversee all aspects of food preparation, kitchen management, and menu planning. The Executive Chef will lead a team responsible for creating nutritious, appealing, and safe meals that meet the needs of a diverse senior population, including those requiring therapeutic diets such as diabetic, cardiac, or texture-modified meals. The role demands strong leadership capabilities to recruit, train, and manage kitchen staff, ensuring a well-organized, compliant, and cooperative kitchen environment. The Executive Chef will actively engage with residents and dining committees to continuously refine menus and dining experiences, fostering a sense of community and satisfaction. Additionally, the position involves maintaining strict adherence to health and safety standards, including compliance with AHCA, Joint Commission, HACCP protocols, and ServSafe guidelines. Job Requirements
- Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience
- ServSafe Manager Certification or ability to obtain
- 3+ years of culinary management experience
- Experience with therapeutic diets preferred
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent menu development abilities
- Ability to manage budgets and inventory
- Available to work in person at the Largo location
Job Qualifications
- Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience
- ServSafe Manager Certification or ability to obtain
- Additional certifications in food safety or nutrition preferred
- 3+ years of culinary management experience, preferably in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or high-volume food service
- Experience working with therapeutic diets such as diabetic, cardiac, texture-modified is highly preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent cooking, menu development, and organizational abilities
- Ability to work within inventory and vendor relationships
- Compassionate approach to serving older adults
Job Duties
- Develop menu specials, holiday meals, and special events
- Oversee food preparation to ensure high quality, taste, and presentation
- Direct daily kitchen operations including food production, meal service, sanitation, and safety
- Maintain compliance with health department regulations, AHCA, Joint Commission, and company policies
- Implement and enforce HACCP protocols and ServSafe practices
- Recruit, train, supervise, and schedule culinary staff including cooks, prep staff, and dishwashers
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance management, and professional development
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment
- Manage food and supply budget in alignment with financial targets
- Monitor waste control and portion standards
- Interact with residents to receive feedback and make menu adjustments as needed
- Attend resident council or dining committee meetings
- Ensure a pleasant dining experience that promotes dignity and hospitality
- Uphold local, state, and federal regulations for food service
- Conduct regular kitchen inspections to ensure cleanliness and equipment functionality
- Maintain required documentation for audits
