Job Description

The Junto is a modern-day embodiment of Ben Franklin's original club for mutual improvement, bringing together individuals from all walks of life to share ideas, engage in meaningful conversations, and enjoy community. Located in Columbus, this unique hotel aims to provide a vibrant public gathering space that invites visitors, locals, entrepreneurs, and artists to connect and inspire one another. As a landmark and destination, The Junto helps shape and enhance the cultural and social fabric of the Columbus area, creating an atmosphere where collaboration and creativity thrive.

The Executive Chef at The Junto plays a vital role in this vision by leading the culinary team with passion and precision. This position is centered on fostering strong connections through exceptional food and thoughtful hospitality. The Executive Chef is responsible for orchestrating every aspect of the kitchen operations, from creative menu development to maintaining impeccable standards of food preparation and presentation. Beyond culinary expertise, the Executive Chef serves as a mentor and leader, cultivating a cohesive and motivated team of hospitality professionals who are dedicated to excellence in food and beverage service.

Reporting closely to the Food & Beverage General Manager, the Executive Chef ensures that the back of house runs smoothly and efficiently, reinforcing The Junto's commitment to an outstanding guest experience. Key responsibilities include planning and directing culinary activities, modifying or creating menus that meet quality benchmarks, monitoring food and labor costs, and implementing food safety protocols. This leadership role demands a meticulous eye for detail, strong food handling skills, and the ability to keep abreast of emerging food trends, which can be incorporated into the evolving menu offerings to keep the dining experience fresh and compelling.

The Junto is part of the Makeready collection, a company that prioritizes the health, happiness, and well-being of its employees. Team members enjoy an array of thoughtful benefits designed to support their personal and professional lives, including accommodating paid time off policies, medical, dental, and vision coverage, maternity and paternity leave, pet insurance, company-matched dependent care and 401(k) plans, and even student loan repayment assistance. This inclusive and supportive environment reflects Makeready's commitment to equal opportunity and building a workplace where diversity, individuality, and qualifications are valued equally.

In summary, becoming the Executive Chef at The Junto offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic culinary team in a culturally rich and socially impactful setting. Candidates who thrive in collaborative environments, value mutual respect, and are passionate about crafting outstanding food experiences will find this role fulfilling and rewarding. It is a chance to contribute not only to a beloved restaurant but also to a community hub that enriches the lives of all who pass through its doors.
