Job Description
Napa Valley Country Club is a prestigious, family-oriented private club located in the heart of Napa Valley, renowned for its exceptional hospitality, elevated dining experiences, and an active social calendar focused on golf, wine, food, and member connection. The club has established itself as one of the premier destinations for luxurious private club experiences, blending the rich heritage of Napa Valley with a commitment to outstanding service and community engagement. With a vibrant atmosphere, Napa Valley Country Club offers members an array of amenities including world-class golf, fine dining, social events, and specialty programming that celebrates the local culture and culinary excellence. The club is currently embarking on an exciting new chapter, featuring a major clubhouse renovation and significant long-term investments aimed at enhancing member experiences, enriching its culinary program, and upgrading overall club operations.
The Executive Chef role at Napa Valley Country Club represents a unique opportunity for a culinary visionary to lead and shape the future of this esteemed private club's food service operations. The Executive Chef is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and execution of all culinary and food service activities throughout the club. This hands-on leadership position demands a dynamic culinary professional who thrives in a hospitality-driven environment and understands that outstanding club dining is about much more than managing a kitchen. It is about creating memorable experiences, building a positive kitchen culture, developing and mentoring teams, and becoming an integral part of the club's fabric.
In this role, the Executive Chef oversees all culinary operations across multiple dining outlets, banquet events, golf tournaments, special seasonal events such as wine dinners, pool service, and holiday celebrations. Collaboration is key, as the Executive Chef works closely with senior leadership, front-of-house management, golf operations, events coordinators, and facilities teams to consistently deliver exceptional member experiences. This position requires balancing creativity with operational expertise, allowing the Executive Chef to develop seasonal menus that reflect Napa Valley's unique terroir and seasonality while maintaining presentation standards and efficient service.
Leadership and team development are critical components of this role. The Executive Chef is a mentor and coach responsible for recruiting, training, and fostering a positive, accountable culinary team culture. This includes developing sous chefs and future leaders, creating standardized operating procedures, and driving continuous improvement across all culinary operations. Financial and operational management responsibilities include managing food and labor costs, overseeing purchasing and inventory systems, building vendor relationships, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting to ensure profitability and operational efficiency.
The Executive Chef also plays a vital role in enhancing the member experience through direct interaction with members and guests, accommodating diverse dietary needs, and collaborating with front-of-house teams to optimize service flow. The individual must exhibit professionalism, accountability, and composure under pressure while leading high-volume banquets and events, such as weddings, golf tournaments, and private functions, ensuring consistency and excellence throughout.
Offering a competitive annual salary range of $115,000 to $135,000, this position not only provides a platform for culinary creativity and leadership but also offers comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid vacation and sick time, a 401k plan with matching contributions, an employee meal plan, and pet insurance. Napa Valley Country Club invites experienced Executive Chefs passionate about hospitality and culinary excellence to apply and contribute to a vibrant community focused on exceptional member experiences and innovative culinary programming.
