Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or one to four years related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common financial reports
  • Ability to read and implement safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or regulatory agencies
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers, management and public groups
  • Clear communication skills in person, telephone and writing
  • Ability to understand and manipulate accounting concepts such as budgeting, cost analysis, and financial planning
  • Reasoning skills for problem-solving and planning
  • May require franchise specific certification

Job Duties

  • Hire, schedule, orient, train and develop kitchen workers including job duties, food production, sanitation, safety, guest satisfaction and company policies
  • Cook and carve meats and prepare dishes during rush periods and for banquets and social functions
  • Plan or participate in planning menus, prepare and portion foods, and utilize surpluses and leftovers to prevent waste
  • Specify number of servings to control portion costs
  • Supervise kitchen personnel to ensure kitchen and equipment cleanliness according to sanitation guidelines
  • Taste and observe food to ensure conformance with recipes and guest satisfaction
  • Supervise inventory, storage, and distribution of foodstuffs and supplies
  • Inventory and purchase foodstuffs, kitchen supplies, and equipment following company purchasing guidelines
  • Assist in budgeting for the kitchen area and setting prices for food items
  • Meet with sales staff, customers, or clients to resolve menu issues or plan special menus
