Job Description
Riderwood Village by Erickson Senior Living is a premier continuing care retirement community located in Silver Spring, Maryland. Spanning over 120 scenic acres, Riderwood Village is part of a respected national network managed by Erickson Senior Living, one of the largest and most reputable providers of senior living and health care services in the United States. Riderwood Village is dedicated to providing its residents with a vibrant lifestyle, financial stability, and focused health and well-being services, creating a warm and supportive environment for those who live and work there. As an Erickson Senior Living community, Riderwood Village benefits from the organization's commitment to fostering a workplace that supports personal and professional growth, work-life balance, and an inclusive culture free from unlawful discrimination and harassment.
The role of Executive Chef at Riderwood Village offers a unique opportunity to lead culinary operations across two distinct dining venues: the Fireside Restaurant and the Potomac Café. The Fireside Restaurant is a full-service fine dining establishment that delivers an elevated dinner experience, emphasizing culinary excellence and top-tier service. The Potomac Café is a dynamic, all-day café serving deli selections and cook-to-order meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This role demands a strong hospitality leader with a proven track record of culinary success and the ability to drive innovative Signature Dining Programs.
As Executive Chef, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the dining experience for residents by focusing on from-scratch cooking, utilizing high-quality ingredients, and creating chef-inspired menus that elevate the guest experience. Your leadership will ensure that both culinary venues maintain impeccable standards for food quality, presentation, and safety. The position is salaried, ranging from $80,000 to $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience, and includes eligibility for an annual bonus. This role also offers comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision plans, wellness resources, generous paid time off, a 401(k) plan with company match, onsite medical centers, education assistance, and exciting growth opportunities as Erickson expands its communities.
In this role, you will oversee all aspects of kitchen operations including efficient food purchasing, preparation, and presentation while managing budget constraints. You will supervise the kitchen staff and oversee back-of-house systems, core menus, and recipe management. Maintaining kitchen and equipment sanitation and conducting monthly internal audits will be key responsibilities, along with ensuring compliance with all federal and state food safety regulations such as Health Department and HAACP standards. Collaboration with the General Manager to resolve any food production or presentation issues will be essential. Your attention to detail and commitment to culinary excellence will be vital in maintaining high standards and continuously refining dining offerings.
Joining the team at Riderwood Village means contributing to a community that values hospitality, innovation, and the well-being of its residents and staff. Erickson Senior Living is an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, free from discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, marital status, veteran status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other protected category. This role provides not only a platform for showcasing culinary talents but also the support needed to thrive and grow within a respected senior living organization.
