Job Description
Riderwood Village by Erickson Senior Living is a premier continuing care retirement community situated on a scenic 120-acre campus in Silver Spring, Maryland. As part of Erickson Senior Living, one of the nation’s largest and most respected providers of senior living and health care services, Riderwood offers a vibrant and supportive environment designed to enhance the quality of life for its residents. The community is dedicated to providing financial stability, a rich lifestyle, and focused health and well-being services, making it a leader in senior living. Riderwood Village stands out not only for its beautiful surroundings and exceptional care but also for its commitment to a culture of inclusivity and equal opportunity, ensuring a workplace free from unlawful discrimination and harassment.
The Executive Chef position at Riderwood Village is a pivotal culinary leadership role that oversees the operations of two distinct dining venues on-site—the Fireside Restaurant and the Potomac Café. The Fireside Restaurant is a full-service fine dining establishment that provides an elevated dinner experience, emphasizing sophisticated, chef-inspired menus and exceptional presentation. In parallel, the Potomac Café offers a dynamic, all-day dining option with deli selections and cook-to-order meals served throughout breakfast, lunch, and dinner hours. This role requires an innovative hospitality professional who can champion Erickson’s Signature Dining Programs, which focus on from-scratch cooking, high-quality, fresh ingredients, and culinary creativity that enhances the overall guest experience.
As Executive Chef, you will be responsible for leadership, vision, and excellence in culinary operations. Your influence will shape Riderwood's dining culture by leading a talented kitchen team, managing food purchasing and preparation within budget constraints, and ensuring rigorous standards of food safety and sanitation are met. You will collaborate closely with the General Manager and other senior leaders to resolve any food production or presentation challenges while maintaining consistently high standards of food quality and plate presentation. The role offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience, along with eligibility for an annual bonus.
Riderwood and Erickson Senior Living prioritize employee well-being and growth, providing comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans, wellness reimbursements, generous paid time off including paid volunteer hours, 401(k) plans with company matching, onsite medical centers, and access to extensive educational resources and career advancement opportunities. As an Executive Chef at Riderwood, you not only advance your culinary career but also contribute meaningfully to a community dedicated to helping seniors live better lives in an inclusive, compassionate, and engaging environment. This role offers a unique opportunity for a seasoned culinary professional with fine dining and hospitality experience to make a lasting impact while enjoying work-life balance and professional development within a respected national senior living organization.
