Job Description
Space of Mind is a progressive educational campus located in downtown Delray Beach, Florida, dedicated to cultivating creativity, innovation, and community connection. The campus serves as a dynamic hub for students and families, focusing on holistic education that integrates academic learning with real-world skills and wellness. Space of Mind emphasizes a nurturing environment where creativity and practical skills meet, particularly through its culinary arts program and community outreach. The institution is well-regarded for blending educational programming with community events, fostering a space where students can learn both in the classroom and through immersive, hands-on experiences that build confidence and inspire lifelong skills. As an innovative educational campus, Space of Mind aims to nourish not only the intellect but also the body and spirit, creating an enriching experience for everyone involved.
The role of Executive Chef and Culinary Education Head Coach at Space of Mind is an exciting and multi-dimensional position that goes beyond traditional culinary roles. This full-time, salaried position invites an organized, passionate, and innovative culinary professional to lead the campus kitchen operations and the Culinary Arts program. The Executive Chef will craft healthy snack and lunch menus for approximately 50-60 students and staff daily while managing all aspects of kitchen inventory, ordering, and sanitation. This role requires a blend of strong culinary skills and educational expertise to teach cooking and daily living skills through both group and individual lessons. It also involves creative leadership in culinary entrepreneurship and workforce training programs, empowering students with practical experiences that nurture their growth and development.
In addition to food preparation and instruction, the Executive Chef will collaborate with the campus’s team of educators and academic coaches to integrate culinary learning into the broader theme-based academic curriculum. This highlights the unique interdisciplinary approach of Space of Mind, where culinary arts complement educational goals and foster a vibrant, interactive learning environment. The role also includes planning and executing menus for various community and school events, such as Open House, Back to School BBQ, and other campus celebrations, enhancing the social and cultural fabric of the schoolhouse.
The ideal candidate will bring creativity, leadership, and a commitment to community nourishment. This position is not only about feeding students but also about inspiring and educating them, making it a deeply impactful role in the lives of students and their families. Space of Mind offers a supportive workplace culture that values innovation, teamwork, and wellness, alongside competitive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance. This rewarding role offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a community-focused educational institution where culinary arts are a core pillar of learning and connection.
