The role of Culinary Team Leader at Market District, a division of Giant Eagle, is integral to maintaining the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant and kitchen. This leadership position involves managing the culinary team with creativity and passion, collaborating closely with sous chefs and team members to develop and execute recipes that delight guests. The Culinary Team Leader is not only responsible for the quality and presentation of food but also plays a key role in inspiring the team and fostering an exciting culinary culture. Your efforts will directly impact the guest experience, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and culinary innovation. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the dynamic nature of the hospitality industry.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten years of executive chef experience with multiunit operational knowledge in hotels, restaurants, or country clubs. Strong organizational and customer service skills are essential, alongside proficiency with Microsoft Office tools. Educational requirements include a bachelor’s degree, and certifications such as Food Safety, Alcohol Awareness, and Serve Safe training are mandatory. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. - drive profitability by partnering with catering team and local businesses to make Market District the preferred source for corporate and community events
- make innovative plans and suggestions to improve business plans collaborating across all company levels
- responsible for total operation and financial results of restaurant kitchen grab and go case banquet facility
- train and manage kitchen personnel and supervise coordinate all related culinary activities
- set budget profitability and earnings targets using appropriate forecasting methods
- estimate food consumption and requisition or purchase food
- select and develop recipes for café specials and specialty events
- standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality establish presentation technique and quality standards
- plan and price menus with experience in standardizing recipes plating and costing
- ensure proper equipment operation maintenance and ensure proper safety and sanitation in kitchen
- directly supervise kitchen personnel with responsibility for hiring onboarding developing performance and discipline
- maintain a clean and sanitary work area throughout kitchen walk-ins and storage
- monitor food preparation methods portion sizes and garnishment presentation to ensure acceptable preparation and presentation
