The Executive Chef role at AJ's Bistro is a pivotal leadership position within the bistro management team. Reporting directly to the Bistro Team Lead, the Executive Chef collaborates closely with both the Bistro and Store Team Leads to effectively manage all departmental activities and personnel. This position is designed to support merchandising, sales, and customer service goals while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation. The Executive Chef is expected to be a proactive, friendly leader capable of excelling in a fast-paced environment, providing exceptional customer interactions, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development among team members.
Key responsibilities include acting as the store's primary culinary expert who assists in curating product assortments and procurement strategies to ensure a diverse and appealing menu. The Executive Chef develops recipes to produce gourmet foods with an emphasis on healthy options and partners with vendor collaborators to enhance product development. They also work jointly with the Catering Director to plan profitable catering menus that comply with company standards. Operational ownership includes food safety and sanitation compliance, inventory and ordering management, and ensuring adherence to all local and state regulations. This role also involves supporting hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management to drive a motivated and efficient team. The Executive Chef actively contributes to sales growth and profitability while managing costs related to shrinkage, labor, and other operational expenses.
Employees in this role are expected to maintain physical endurance to meet job demands such as standing, sitting, lifting weights up to 50 pounds, pushing, walking, bending, and frequent use of keyboards and telephones.
