The Executive Chef role at The Ashford at Sturbridge is a full-time position designed for a culinary leader who is passionate about delivering high-quality meals that enhance the lives of senior residents. This leadership role involves managing the full scope of kitchen operations, from staffing and training to budgeting and food production. The Executive Chef is responsible for ensuring that every dish served is consistent, creative, and meets the highest quality standards, meeting and exceeding the expectations of residents. The role entails supervision of kitchen staff, servers, and vendors, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, and actively soliciting feedback to continuously improve the dining experience. This position also requires budgeting for the Food Service Department’s payroll and supplies, managing kitchen equipment, and adhering to state and company sanitation guidelines. The Executive Chef will be a key part of the community, helping to create an environment where residents enjoy delicious meals and a sense of connection.

Job Requirements
- Three or more years of culinary leadership experience
- Meet state board of health requirements
- Understand safety and sanitation procedures
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to analyze reports and respond to inquiries or complaints
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills
- Knowledge of food administration and cost control
- Ability to understand budget and profit and loss statements
- Proven leadership and critical thinking skills
- Excellent customer service and employee relations skills
Job Qualifications
- Three or more years of culinary leadership experience preferably in independent or assisted living or related culinary leadership roles with increasing responsibility
- Must meet State Board of Health requirements
- Proficiency in safety procedures and adherence to sanitation standards
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with coworkers, residents, family members, and partners
- Ability to analyze and interpret reports and respond to inquiries or complaints
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications
- Strong decision-making skills requiring high judgment
- Knowledge of food administration and cost control
- Ability to understand and analyze budgets and profit and loss statements
- Demonstrated leadership and critical thinking skills
- Proven customer service and employee relations capabilities
Job Duties
- Manage day-to-day kitchen operations including staffing, training, budgeting, and forecasting
- Supervise and oversee kitchen staff and servers, including hiring and development
- Ensure menu quality, consistency, and creativity while maximizing resources
- Oversee all food production within the kitchen
- Maintain visibility and communicate with customers to gather feedback and address concerns professionally
- Assure that adequate supplies are maintained and manage kitchen equipment
- Maintain sanitation standards for kitchen, walk-ins, and dry storage
- Control annual payroll budget for the Food Service Department
- Stay current on industry trends and culinary techniques
- Review and approve all Food Service invoices for accuracy
- Maintain vendor relationships and use approved vendors for services and supplies
- Assist in developing and implementing culinary standards, guidelines, and procedures company-wide
- Comply with all state and company sanitation requirements to ensure food safety
