The Executive Chef role at The Ashford at Sturbridge is a full-time leadership position that plays a crucial part in maintaining and elevating the culinary standards within the community. This role is responsible for overall kitchen management, including day-to-day operations such as staffing, training, budgeting, and forecasting. The Executive Chef will oversee all kitchen and server staff, ensuring smooth operations while fostering a supportive and productive team environment. Beyond operational management, the role demands creativity and consistency in menu quality, maximizing resources while delighting residents with diverse and nutritious meals. The Executive Chef maintains supply inventories, ensures proper kitchen sanitation, and upholds compliance with state and company sanitation requirements.

In addition to managerial responsibilities, the Executive Chef actively engages with residents and guests, seeking feedback to respond promptly and professionally to any concerns. This customer-facing element underscores the importance of excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The position requires someone who is knowledgeable about culinary industry trends and committed to continuous improvement in food service standards. Financial stewardship is another key aspect, with duties including payroll budget control, invoice review, and vendor management.

With over three years of culinary leadership experience, preferably in independent or assisted living settings, candidates are expected to demonstrate proven leadership, critical thinking, and strong customer service abilities. Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Manage day-to-day kitchen operations including staffing, training, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Oversee and supervise all kitchen staff and servers including hiring, training, and development
  • Ensure menu quality, consistency, and creativity while maximizing resources
  • Oversee all food production
  • Maintain visibility to customers, solicit and respond to feedback professionally
  • Assure adequate supplies are maintained
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and ensure sanitation standards are met
  • Control yearly payroll budget for the Food Service Department
  • Stay current on industry trends and techniques
  • Review and approve all Food Service invoices for accuracy
  • Maintain and use approved vendors for services and supplies
  • Assist with development and implementation of company-wide culinary standards and procedures
  • Meet or exceed all State and company sanitation requirements
