Job Description
Proof of the Pudding is an award-winning catering company renowned throughout the Southeast for its unwavering commitment to crafting quality culinary concepts from scratch. Established with a passion for excellence, the company has expanded beyond traditional catering to include Sports and Entertainment Food & Beverage Services. This expansion is marked by the delivery of elevated concessions and premium offerings at a variety of prestigious venues and events, including collegiate stadiums, PGA golf tournaments, International Boat Shows, professional sports teams, and more. With a strong focus on creativity, innovation, and customer satisfaction, Proof of the Pudding has built a reputation for excellence in the hospitality industry, especially within high-volume, dynamic environments where quality and precision are paramount.
Proof of the Pudding has recently partnered with Legends Field and is currently seeking a dedicated Executive Chef to lead the culinary program at the stadium. This leadership role is crucial in ensuring that all culinary aspects of the premium hospitality and concessions programs operate smoothly during sporting events, catering engagements, concerts, and special events. The Executive Chef is responsible for hands-on management and leadership, driving the kitchen team to consistently produce culinary creations that exceed guest expectations while maximizing revenue and controlling expenses. This role involves a combination of strategic oversight and operational execution, making it ideal for a culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses strong leadership and financial management skills.
As the Executive Chef, you will be at the forefront of menu planning and execution for game days and special events. Your role will ensure compliance with sanitation standards and legal regulations, maintaining a safe and secure kitchen environment. You will work closely with the General Manager to understand event details fully, including custom menus and specific setups, enabling flawless culinary service. Your responsibilities will also include purchasing and inventory management, budgeting, financial reporting, and the development and communication of innovative menu items that align with the company’s standards of creativity and excellence.
This position requires a leader who can inspire and train the culinary team, managing staff schedules in coordination with the HR team to ensure alignment with event demands. You will foster a culture of teamwork and continual improvement, promoting professional growth within your department. Your keen understanding of cost control, budgeting, and high-volume food production will help achieve the venue’s financial objectives. Additionally, your outstanding culinary skills and ability to communicate will help elevate the guest experience, contributing to the overall success of each event and the long-term reputation of Proof of the Pudding.
The Executive Chef position encompasses both office and kitchen responsibilities. Office duties will include computer-based tasks, interdepartmental communication, and participation in meetings, while kitchen responsibilities will involve the physical demands of operating in a busy food service environment. This role is based in Kansas City, KS, and requires either residency in the area or willingness to relocate. The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000 per year, reflective of the role's importance and the expertise required. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance, dental, vision, life coverage, 401k, short and long-term disability, cell phone reimbursement, and HSA opportunities.
Proof of the Pudding and its affiliates are committed to creating an inclusive work environment and embracing diversity. They are an Equal Opportunity Employer, ensuring that all applicants are considered without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, disability, or any other protected characteristics. This role offers the opportunity to join a forward-thinking company dedicated to quality and innovation within the culinary and hospitality industries.
