This role is a full-time, exempt, salaried position with an annual salary range of $80,000 to $85,000, offering a stable and rewarding career opportunity within a respected senior living provider.

The Executive Chef at Monarch Communities is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the dining experience for residents. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Executive Chef leads the daily operations of the dining department, ensuring that meals served are not only nutritious and high quality but also beautifully presented. This role requires someone with strong culinary expertise, exceptional management skills, and a commitment to meeting the specific dietary needs of the senior population. The Executive Chef manages a team by recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating culinary staff to maintain high performance and morale. Part of the role involves planning menus, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations, and maintaining sanitation and food service areas in accordance with industry standards. The Executive Chef also handles inventory control, product purchasing, and vendor relations to keep operations running efficiently and cost-effectively. Additionally, the Executive Chef supports community engagement by participating in local events and representing Monarch’s mission and values. This position requires proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, knowledge of food management and diet therapy, and strong organizational and communication skills. Physical capabilities include lifting up to 50 pounds and performing a range of activities necessary for managing a busy kitchen environment. Job Requirements

  • College degree or certification preferably in culinary arts, hospitality, nutrition, or business
  • Minimum of two (2) years of culinary services administration experience, preferably in senior living
  • ServSafe certification required
  • Training and experience in cost control, food management, and diet therapy
  • Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel) with the ability to learn new applications
  • Competence in organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrate good judgment, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to lift or carry weight up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as standing, walking, sitting, reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing, and smelling

Job Duties

  • Promote our mission and core values of Senior Living to residents, visitors, co-workers, and the surrounding community
  • Actively contribute to growing community occupancy by representing and interacting positively with potential residents, family members, and professionals
  • Develop and implement successful strategies regarding labor, occupancy, expenses, and quality of services
  • Interview, hire, orient, train, supervise and evaluate subordinate staff
  • Consistently evaluate residents’ needs in relation to staff needs as a basis for determining priorities in designing an ongoing dining program
  • Comply with all aspects of operation, including personnel practices, in accordance with our policies and federal, state, and local regulations
  • Assist in the development of operational budgets and capital requirements, including forecasting and approving all expenses
