The Oak Hills Terrace Memory Care community, located in Tyler, TX, is currently seeking an Executive Chef who demonstrates exemplary leadership and culinary expertise within senior living or similar care settings. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and innovate the food service program in a specialized memory care environment that prioritizes customer satisfaction and resident well-being. The Executive Chef will be instrumental in upholding all standards related to quality, conduct, customer service, and productivity of the Food Services Department, ensuring that every meal served contributes to the residents’ health and happiness.

The role demands a strategic leader with experience in managing culinary operations, including recruitment, training, and supervision of kitchen staff. The Executive Chef is accountable for maintaining appropriate inventory levels and food supply budgets, while consistently adhering to budget guidelines. In addition, this role requires meticulous attention to compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards. As a key member of the management team, the Executive Chef will additionally participate in performance-based bonus programs that recognize achievements in cost control, resident satisfaction, and census growth.

Job Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Supervisory work experience in food service or equivalent of four years or more
  • Training and experience in resident care including nutritional monitoring and assessment, general nutrition, food production and service, sanitation, safety, and management
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written
  • English language skills adequate to allow communication with residents and staff and to understand instructions
  • Must be a Chef
  • Compassion for elderly
  • Self-motivation

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Supervisory work experience in food service of four years or more
  • Formal training or on-the-job experience in resident care techniques, nutrition, food production, service, sanitation, safety, and management
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Adequate English language skills for communication and comprehension
  • Must be a Chef
  • Compassion for elderly
  • Self-motivated

Job Duties

  • Innovate, plan, promote, and supervise a food service program that meets or exceeds standards of quality and productivity as well as specialized diets for residents with specific needs
  • Recruit, hire, train, discipline and supervise a full complement of staff
  • Establish, document, direct and assist in kitchen and dining room sanitation procedures
  • Prepare schedules for all shifts for kitchen and dining staff and post in work areas
  • Comply with state, local or federal rules, regulations and licensing requirements related to health, safety, and food service operations
  • Monitor food inventory and work within established budget guidelines
  • Participate in performance-based bonus programs by striving to control costs, maintain resident satisfaction, and support census growth
  • Other duties as assigned
