The Executive Chef role at HMSHost involves overseeing all culinary operations for multiple restaurants within a complex airport environment, specifically at the Atlanta Airport Food and Beverage location. This role is both strategic and hands-on, responsible for managing culinary and commissary staff to ensure all food preparation meets high standards of taste, presentation, and safety. The Executive Chef works closely with restaurant partners to craft menus that are both creative and operationally feasible while maintaining compliance with HACCP and other regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include supervising culinary supervisory staff, managing vendor relationships, controlling food costs through inventory management systems, and ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction through quality food products and excellent service. This position offers a salary range between $80,095 and $114,075 annually and reports to the Senior Director of Operations. Job Requirements

  • Requires post-secondary education in culinary arts school or four-year university
  • requires minimum of 5 years managerial or supervision experience in culinary or food service
  • must hold Serve Safe Management certification
  • demonstrates team management, delegation, issue resolution and coaching skills
  • shows strong organizational and time management
  • ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions and policy documents
  • ability to converse comfortably with individuals
  • able to operate in a fast-paced airport food and beverage environment

Job Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in culinary arts or a four-year university degree
  • brand certification is a plus
  • minimum of 5 years managerial or supervisory experience in culinary or food service
  • Serve Safe Management certification required
  • proven team management, delegation, issue resolution, coaching and motivational skills
  • strong organizational and multi-project time management abilities
  • ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Job Duties

  • Supervises the day to day activities of culinary supervisory staff
  • works with restaurant partners on menus and menu items ensuring proper and timely preparation
  • ensures integrity of all aspects of food including taste, temperature, presentation and speed of production
  • promotes safety and sanitation, oversees inspection of product handling, establishes safe practices and follows HACCP procedures
  • oversees the commissary and serves as a primary contact with food vendors
  • prices and orders food and kitchen supplies
  • maintains effective cost control by managing food inventory systems
  • complies with company and franchise operation standards and regulatory requirements
  • ensures daily product preparation in accordance with brand or company standards
  • identifies hiring, firing, advancement, development and promotion of culinary management staff
  • maintains effective communication and positive associate relations including performance reviews, progressive discipline, and resolving issues
  • manages incentive and development programs for management and associates
  • provides highest quality customer service and training to staff ensuring customer satisfaction and product quality
