Job Description
Journeyman Distillery is a renowned craft distillery known for its handmade, high-quality approach to spirits and brews. Located in a vibrant community that values authenticity and craftsmanship, Journeyman extends this commitment to quality into its culinary operations, which include the Staymaker and Union Hall full-service restaurants. In addition to these dining establishments, the company manages self-catered private and public events, special dinners, and community opportunities that bring people together through exceptional food and drink experiences. With plans to expand its culinary footprint over the next 12 to 18 months, Journeyman is seeking an Executive Chef to lead its culinary teams and operations.
As the Executive Chef at Journeyman Distillery, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the culinary vision and ensuring consistency, quality, and innovation across all food offerings. This leadership role demands not only culinary expertise but also the ability to inspire, motivate, and manage teams effectively. You will oversee current culinary operations, innovate new menus, manage budgeting, and spearhead the operational setup for upcoming expansions. Your efforts will contribute to maintaining Journeyman's reputation as a leader in craft dining experiences.
The culture at Journeyman is deeply rooted in core values that emphasize grit, continuous improvement, customer-first mentality, and being an ambassador for the brand. Employees are expected to have a positive attitude, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence, embracing the philosophy that mastery is a lifelong journey. The Executive Chef will embody these values, setting the tone for the culinary team and fostering a culture that aligns with the company’s mission.
Journeyman offers a comprehensive benefits and incentives package, recognizing that dedication and hard work deserve rewarding. Benefits include paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employer matching, comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life and supplemental insurance options, employee discounts, quarterly spirit bottles for legal-age employees, loyalty incentives, and engaging company events. These benefits support the well-being and professional growth of the culinary team.
This role requires a passionate and experienced culinary professional with a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and excellent leadership capabilities. The Executive Chef will manage staffing, coach team members to develop their skills, oversee performance management, and ensure all culinary processes meet high standards. Collaboration with directors across hospitality and finance teams is essential to align culinary operations with financial goals and organizational growth.
The position is ideal for a motivated individual eager to embrace challenges, innovate in a growing company, and contribute meaningfully to both the culinary and brand success. Journeyman Distillery prioritizes a welcoming, positive workplace where every team member is valued, and every customer experience is magical. If you are ready to lead with passion, precision, and pride, this Executive Chef opportunity offers an exciting platform to advance your culinary career in a dynamic, craft-focused environment.
