Journeyman Distillery

Journeyman Distillery is a family-owned, certified organic and kosher distillery that specializes in crafting high-quality spirits with a strong sense of place. Established in 2010 by Bill and Johanna Welter, the distillery operates two primary locations.

• The Featherbone Factory in Three Oaks, Michigan, a historic 1800s corset and buggy whip manufacturing site.
• The American Factory in Valparaiso, IN, USA, a modern $40 million campus.

At the Featherbone Factory, Journeyman produces a diverse range of spirits including whiskeys, craft spirits, liqueurs, and infusions. Their grain-to-bottle process uses locally sourced Midwest organic grains and untreated water from an underground aquifer, reflecting the terroir of their quaint village.

Notable offerings include the Last Feather Rye, known for its balance of rye spice and wheat sweetness, and the Corsets, Whips & Whiskey, a single-grain, cask-strength whiskey showcasing the high quality of organic Michigan wheat.

In November 2023, Journeyman expanded with the opening of the American Factory in Valparaiso, Indiana. This $40 million campus features:

• a 35-foot-tall copper still
• a 9,000-gallon distillery production tank
• Sea of Monsters craft brewery
• Union Hall restaurant
• event spaces for weddings and private gatherings

The facility continues the distillery's commitment to honoring history while creating new experiences.

Certification and Community

Journeyman Distillery is one of the few certified organic and kosher distilleries in the United States, producing spirits without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or genetically modified organisms.

Their dedication to quality and community is evident in initiatives like the Islay’s Barrel program, which supports summer programs for children in Southwest Michigan.
