Job Description
The Executive Chef position within the Greek House Chefs (GHC) Kitchen represents a pivotal leadership role responsible for the comprehensive management and direction of all culinary operations. Greek House Chefs is a specialized food service provider dedicated to delivering exceptional culinary experiences tailored to sororities, fraternities, and university-affiliated houses. As a company, GHC emphasizes quality, creativity, and client satisfaction, supporting an environment where distinctive menus meet high culinary standards with a commitment to nutritional balance, presentation, and client preferences. The company fosters a culture of professionalism, continuous training, and strong vendor and client relationships, ensuring every dining experience is memorable and meets the exacting standards of the houses it serves.
The Executive Chef at GHC is entrusted with overseeing every aspect of kitchen operations, including menu planning, staff management, budget supervision, and quality assurance. This leadership role requires someone with a strategic mindset and practical expertise to design, implement, and maintain comprehensive culinary programs that align with the company's standards and client expectations. The Executive Chef will lead kitchen personnel, ensuring effective training and adherence to health and safety standards, while fostering a professional appearance and conduct in the kitchen environment. They will continuously communicate with GHC management and house representatives to ensure all client needs are met and to facilitate smooth operation logistics.
The role demands the creation and modification of menus two weeks in advance using the GHC App and the submission of weekly budget reports via the same platform. Oversight of food purchasing and inventory management is critical, with a focus on balancing quality, cost, and nutritional needs. The Executive Chef also conducts regular inspections of food production and service areas to uphold cleanliness, sanitation, and food quality. In addition, this position requires scheduling flexibility, including availability for special events planning and attendance, to ensure high-profile functions meet expected standards.
Crucial to the role is the ability to maintain positive relationships with staff, vendors, and clients, as well as to implement effective training programs and service procedures. A minimum workweek of 45-50 hours is standard, reflecting the dedication required to meet the comprehensive responsibilities of this position. The Executive Chef will also be required to transfer between worksites when necessary, continuing to uphold the consistent quality and standards that define the Greek House Chefs brand.
This role is ideal for experienced culinary professionals with leadership skills, strong organizational abilities, and a passion for creating exceptional food experiences. Candidates typically have 2-3 years of experience as a Lead Sous Chef or Executive Chef or hold a relevant culinary degree. Proficiency in using technology such as compliance and inventory management software, and the Greek House Chefs App, is essential. Additionally, certifications such as ServSafe and a valid food handler's card, depending on state requirements, are mandatory.
In summary, the Executive Chef at Greek House Chefs is a dynamic role that blends culinary creativity, operational management, and client service excellence. It demands a proactive, detail-oriented leader dedicated to maintaining the high standards and reputation of GHC’s kitchen operations.
