Sodexo is a global leader in quality of life services, dedicated to improving everyday experiences for individuals in various settings, including healthcare, corporate, education, and more. Established as a trusted provider of integrated food services, facilities management, and other essential support services, Sodexo is committed to fostering healthy, productive, and enjoyable environments for clients and employees alike. A unique aspect of Sodexo's operations is its strategic alliance with NBA Hall of Famer Earvin "Magic" Johnson, through SodexoMagic, a joint venture that emphasizes delivering exceptional service with a focus on minority business certification and community engagement. This partnership enhances Sodexo's ability to provide creative, tailored solutions that meet the diverse needs of clients across the country.

Located at Methodist Hospital-South Lake in Merrillville, Indiana, Sodexo is currently seeking an Executive Chef 1, a leadership role ideal for individuals passionate about culinary excellence and team development. The position offers an opportunity to join a stable and growing industry while enjoying a better work-life balance. This role is particularly suitable for restaurant and food service managers seeking a meaningful career change with increased stability and growth potential. Union experience is considered a plus, providing an added advantage to candidates familiar with unionized environments.

In this role, the Executive Chef 1 will be responsible for implementing and standardizing culinary systems and procedures within the hospital setting. This includes ensuring food and physical safety standards are met, overseeing annual training programs for hourly associates, managing procurement and purchasing, and designing menus tailored to the unique needs of clients. The Executive Chef will spearhead innovative initiatives across retail dining, catering, and patient services, fostering creativity and freshness in all culinary offerings. Strong leadership skills will be essential as this role involves mentoring frontline staff and cultivating positive interpersonal relationships with clients to enhance overall service quality.

Sodexo values fair and equitable compensation aligned with candidates' education, experience, and skills. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision care, wellness programs, a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, paid time off, company holidays, career growth opportunities, and tuition reimbursement. These benefits underscore Sodexo's commitment to supporting employee well-being and professional development.

Candidates are expected to bring a robust culinary background, particularly in high-volume environments, and have proven management experience. They should possess expertise in menu planning and be current with contemporary culinary trends. Key competencies include effective leadership, team development, creative problem-solving, proficient computer skills, organization, and attention to detail. The Executive Chef 1 must be capable of independently establishing processes, creating efficiencies, and resolving challenges with minimal supervision.

Sodexo’s inclusive culture emphasizes diversity and equal opportunity, valuing each employee's uniqueness and fostering an environment of respect and inclusion. They are committed to providing equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, gender identity, pregnancy, disability, sexual orientation, military status, protected veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic. Sodexo encourages candidates who share their vision of improving quality of life and community impact to apply for this rewarding leadership position.
