The position available is that of an Executive Chef, a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily culinary operations of the resort’s kitchens. This role is vital to ensuring that all food-related functions meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and guest satisfaction. The Executive Chef at Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa leads by example, personally performing culinary tasks alongside guiding and managing the kitchen staff. This includes supervising all kitchen areas to ensure consistent, high-quality product output and maintaining budgets to support the financial health of the operation. The position requires a combination of culinary talent, leadership skills, and business acumen. The selected candidate will be directly responsible for developing new menu items, managing food safety and sanitation standards, and continuously driving improvements in both guest experience and staff performance.

This involves coaching and mentoring team members, managing payroll and scheduling, handling employee disciplinary actions, and participating in performance evaluations. Job Requirements
- High school or equivalent education
- minimum two years experience as an executive chef in a similar size operation
- prior supervisory experience
- culinary or apprenticeship program preferred
- ability to obtain required licenses and permits
- valid food handler’s card
- ability to work long hours under pressure
- physical ability to handle kitchen demands
- good verbal and written communication skills
- basic computer skills
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- ability to lead and manage a large kitchen staff

Job Qualifications
