EVS Technician (On-Call)

The role offered is for an Environmental Services staff member, reporting to the Tacoma Specialty Center. This is a part-time, on-call position with a flexible schedule that requires working across multiple locations. The primary objective of this role is to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment through routine maintenance, safety surveillance, and cleaning duties using approved disinfectants and equipment. This position plays a critical role in infection prevention and control by adhering to thorough cleaning protocols and procedures within patient, staff, and public areas.

Environmental Services team members are responsible for performing an array of custodial tasks aimed at preserving the aesthetic and hygienic standards of the facility. These tasks include cleaning using specialized techniques such as the 7-step cleaning process, operation of electric and battery powered cleaning equipment, management of medical and general waste, restocking hygiene supplies, conducting low-level maintenance, and ensuring safety compliance. Responsibility for safety involves routine surveillance to prevent any violations of safety policies, managing security measures such as locking doors and arming alarms, and supporting snow removal and exterior cleaning when necessary.

Successful candidates will exhibit a proactive attitude, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering quality service. This role requires physical ability to perform tasks such as bending, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and maneuvering equipment. A cooperative spirit is essential since the role functions within a team environment. Additionally, adherence to Washington State Department of Health guidelines and OSHA regulations ensures a safe, compliant work environment. The position is classified under Facility Services and Materials Management and is a regular employee status with a service union affiliation (SEIU Local 1199 Service Unit).

Working hours are variable, with the role encompassing all days of the week, making it suitable for applicants who require flexible scheduling.
