The role of EVS Lead at Banner Desert Medical Center is a vital leadership position within Environmental Services. This role offers the opportunity to directly influence hospital operations by overseeing a team of Environmental Services Associates responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety standards that are critical to patient care and staff well-being. The EVS Lead is tasked with mentoring and training associates, ensuring proper staffing on a hospital-wide level, managing resources such as linens and supplies, and coordinating cleaning projects. This position requires working closely with hospital leadership to align Environmental Services practices with Banner Health's core values and operational policies. The role involves quality assurance inspections to identify and correct deficiencies in the hospital environment and playing an active part in recruitment and retention of team members. The EVS Lead role requires hands-on participation alongside the team, making it ideal for candidates who enjoy problem-solving, variety in their daily tasks, and leadership responsibilities that support a safe and welcoming healthcare setting. Job Requirements

  • Two or more years of related healthcare environmental services experience
  • leadership skills
  • effective verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to work independently
  • role model in customer service, safety, and infection control
  • ability to work dayshift Wednesday through Sunday 7:30am - 3:30pm
  • must comply with Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and criminal history affidavit if working in behavioral health settings
  • ability to perform physical cleaning tasks and move furniture
  • reliable and responsible work ethic

Job Qualifications

  • Two or more years of healthcare environmental services experience
  • leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • role model in customer service skills, safe work practices, and infection control including hand hygiene
  • basic computer skills in word processing and electronic mail preferred
  • additional related education and/or experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Ensures that staffing plans are carried out properly and that all areas of the hospital are staffed appropriately
  • plans completion of hospital-wide projects and ensures consistent service delivery standards
  • performs cleaning functions in patient rooms, specialty areas, and common areas
  • trains and retrains, recruits, retains, and develops Environmental Services team members
  • supervises staff in the absence of the Environmental Services leader and makes work assignments
  • assists supervisor in performing quality assurance inspections and correcting deficiencies
  • distributes linens and supplies and takes inventories in assigned areas
  • oversees daily activities of Environmental Services team and provides input to performance evaluations
