Recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of Phoenix's Best Hospitals, it provides exceptional healthcare services across multiple specialties. The facility is equipped with over 700 licensed beds, including more than 100 dedicated to pediatric care and 76 ventilated beds in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The hospital excels in high-risk pregnancy and neonatal care, obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology, oncology, pediatrics, and emergency medicine. Banner Desert Medical Center supports a diverse range of surgical procedures in its 33 operating rooms and features advanced technology such as the da Vinci Surgical System. The hospital's emergency services are among the busiest in the nation, as recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review, highlighting its commitment to providing rapid and comprehensive care to the community. Complementing this is Banner Children’s Hospital at Desert, a state-of-the-art pediatric facility within the complex. It offers a child-friendly, family-centered environment staffed by highly trained nurses, physicians, and clinical professionals using leading technologies like iCare ICU monitoring and robotic surgery. This hospital includes a 76-bed NICU, a 24-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), six pediatric operating rooms, and a 22-bed emergency department dedicated solely to children. Additional pediatric services such as dedicated rehab, radiology, oncology, and hematology units underscore the hospital’s commitment to specialized care for young patients. Banner Health, the overarching organization, is a certified Great Place To Work and places a strong emphasis on prioritizing its employees, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment that promotes personal and professional growth. This culture of care extends beyond patient care to every team member, ensuring that everyone at Banner Health can thrive and contribute to the hospital's mission of delivering outstanding healthcare.
The Housekeeping/Environmental Services Associate role at Banner Desert Medical Center is a critical position that directly influences the hospital’s cleanliness, safety, and overall patient experience. This full-time position involves working a day shift with weekend rotations and requires both physical stamina and attention to detail. The role is designed for individuals who are hard-working and committed to maintaining a hygienic environment that meets rigorous hospital standards. Responsibilities include cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining patient rooms and other hospital areas in compliance with established protocols. The position demands regular walking, pushing cleaning carts, and the use of various cleaning chemicals, sometimes involving specialized cleaning tasks such as sanitizing areas exposed to blood or bodily fluids. Housekeeping associates may occasionally be assigned to sensitive locations like the morgue or other specialty units, highlighting the need for professionalism and discretion.
Ideal candidates are those who can operate independently or as part of a team, communicate effectively with medical staff and patients, and adapt to new challenges within a fast-paced environment. A successful Housekeeping/EVS associate will demonstrate responsibility in inventory management, equipment maintenance, and exceptional customer service. Onboarding steps include a background check, drug screening, and annual flu vaccination, reflecting the hospital's high standards for safety and compliance. Banner Health’s dedication to maintaining a drug-free workplace, alongside stringent health and safety policies, further underscores its commitment to a safe and productive work environment. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to join a dedicated team that makes a tangible difference in the lives of patients, visitors, and staff through the fundamental service of maintaining a clean and safe healthcare environment.
