Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one or more year of experience in housekeeping, custodial, or janitorial work preferred
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and some holidays
  • ability to follow safety and infection control procedures
  • manual dexterity and physical ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks
  • effective communication skills to understand and follow instructions
  • commitment to maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards

Job Qualifications

  • One or more year of experience as a custodian, janitor or housekeeper (preferred)
  • demonstrated communication skills to include differentiating color-coded labels and/or chemicals as well as following written and/or verbal directions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule when needed to meet the needs of the department
  • demonstrated professional housekeeping experience (preferred)

Job Duties

  • Clean and disinfect assigned areas using department cleaning procedures
  • use cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards
  • understand procedures and properly dispose of infectious waste and trash
  • handle and clean up emergency spills per department guidelines, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards
  • follow all infection prevention practices including proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, and appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • maintain work and storage areas following established policies and procedures to ensure safety
