Job Description
Holy Name Medical Center is New Jersey's last remaining independent Catholic health system, offering a comprehensive range of healthcare services that include a 361-bed acute care medical center, cancer center, medical fitness center, residential hospice, nursing school, and an extensive physician network. Renowned for providing culturally sensitive care to a diverse patient population, Holy Name draws patients not only from New Jersey but also from the greater New York City region to access its specialty centers and highly regarded doctors. The system is committed to delivering technologically advanced, compassionate, and personalized care across a broad spectrum of healthcare needs. This encompasses education, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and ongoing wellness maintenance.
Holy Name Medical Center is distinguished by its reputation as a high-quality, low-cost provider of exceptional clinical care offered by compassionate and expertly trained physicians and staff members. The organization’s mission centers on holistic patient care, community engagement, and the integration of cutting-edge medical technology to improve health outcomes. The health system also values teamwork, patient safety, and fostering a supportive work environment to ensure every individual receives the best care possible.
The role of EVS (Environmental Services) Associate at Holy Name Medical Center is vital in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the healthcare environment. The EVS Associate is responsible for performing a variety of environmental services duties, including housekeeping, floor care, mail and linen room management, and waste disposal, following established protocols. This role supports the hospital’s mission by ensuring that all patient care areas and public spaces are sanitized and orderly, which directly contributes to infection control and overall patient satisfaction.
This position requires interaction with patients, visitors, and coworkers in a compassionate, courteous, and professional manner, emphasizing excellent customer service. The EVS Associate follows a prescribed work schedule or assignments from supervisors and managers to complete cleaning tasks efficiently. Key responsibilities include preparing cleaning solutions according to manufacturer instructions, sanitizing furniture, surfaces, and equipment with germicidal solutions, and preparing discharged beds for incoming patients promptly. The associate also reports discharge activities accurately using computer systems and performs specialty cleaning in areas such as surgical suites, ICU, labor and delivery, and nursery, adhering to the strictest infection control standards.
The role demands proficient use and safe operation of electric cleaning equipment like vacuums, auto-scrubbers, burnishers, buffing machines, and carpet extractors. Replenishing supplies such as paper towels, toilet tissue, and soap before dispensers run empty is also crucial to maintaining a welcoming and hygienic environment. In addition to core duties, the EVS Associate may be assigned additional tasks to support department goals.
Holy Name offers a compassionate work environment committed to investing in its employees’ futures and well-being. Both full-time and part-time team members have access to a robust benefits package designed to promote health, financial security, and work-life balance. The pay range for this role is $16.50 to $24.25 per hour, with the final salary determined by employment status, skills, education, experience, and internal equity considerations. This role provides excellent opportunities for individuals seeking to contribute meaningfully to healthcare by supporting a clean and safe environment that enhances patient care and community health.
