The hiring organization is a city government entity responsible for managing event venues and cultural programs, providing a robust infrastructure for community engagement through diverse entertainment and event coordination. As a public sector organization, it emphasizes community involvement, high standards of customer service, and operational excellence in managing events and recreational facilities. The organization values a blend of professionalism, creativity, and public service commitment, offering an environment that nurtures public interaction and cultural enrichment. It creates and maintains dynamic event spaces catering to a broad audience, facilitating both private and public events to stimulate local culture and community spirit.
The role is for a Supervisor of Event Coordination. This is a critical position within the organization's event management team, tasked with overseeing the planning, organization, and execution of a wide variety of events and programs. The supervisor leads a team dedicated to logistics and entertainment coordination, ensuring every event runs smoothly and meets the community's needs. This involves direct supervision of staff, coordinating with city vendors for maintenance and facility readiness, and managing relationships with contractors and external agencies. The position calls for high-level customer service skills, as it involves direct client interaction to secure and execute venue rentals.
The Supervisor will develop schedules, assign tasks, and monitor the execution of events from daily programs to large venue rentals, maintaining compliance with city policies and contract standards. This role requires strategic planning and resource allocation, with an emphasis on policy development and operational improvement. The supervisor also handles the financial aspect of event management, participating in budget preparation and monitoring expenses to ensure efficient use of resources.
In addition to team leadership and event oversight, the role acts as a liaison to neighborhood associations and external partners, working to secure sponsorships and media engagement for selected events. The supervisor serves as Manager on Duty for key events, requiring readiness to address challenges in real-time. Physical demands include the ability to manage onsite logistics, handle equipment, and work irregular hours including weekends and holidays.
Candidates for this role must have a blend of education and hands-on experience in event planning, with a supervisory background. Preferred qualifications include bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish, accommodating diverse community interactions. This position requires a valid New Mexico Driver's License and the ability to obtain a City Operator's Permit within six months of hiring, reflecting the role's mobility and operational scope.
This job offers a comprehensive opportunity to impact public cultural programming through effective event management and team leadership. The employed individual will experience a dynamic work environment where creativity, customer service excellence, and community orientation intersect. This role is ideal for a seasoned event professional seeking to apply their knowledge in a public service context, balancing artistic services delivery with organizational and logistical precision.
