Job Description

Erlanger Health System is a comprehensive healthcare provider deeply embedded in the community it serves, known not only for its exceptional medical services but also for its active role in public engagement and community partnership. As a large health system, Erlanger goes beyond traditional healthcare delivery by orchestrating and supporting a broad spectrum of events that foster philanthropic causes, promote health awareness, engage employees, and enhance the hospital's brand visibility across the region. This multifaceted approach positions Erlanger as both a healthcare leader and a key community stakeholder, dedicated to improving public welfare through collaboration and outreach.

The Event Specialist role at Erlanger Health System is a pivotal position responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a diverse range of events. These events span from high-profile philanthropic fundraisers and employee recognition events to community health fairs and various public health campaigns. The role requires a dynamic individual who can manage logistical details with precision, coordinate across multiple departments, and deliver exceptional guest experiences that align with Erlanger's mission and strategic goals. Employment in this role is typically full-time and demands flexibility to work evenings or weekends as events often occur outside regular business hours.

This position calls for a professional with strong project management skills who can oversee event timelines, budgets, vendor relations, and on-site execution to ensure every event runs smoothly. The Event Specialist works closely with internal teams such as Development, Marketing, Creative, and Communications to uphold brand consistency and maximize the impact of each event. Additionally, they collaborate with external vendors, venues, and service providers to negotiate contracts and coordinate services seamlessly.

Taking on the role means embracing the opportunity to contribute significantly to Erlanger's community presence and philanthropic success. The position demands excellent communication, organizational abilities, and adaptability to varying event types and sizes. On-site leadership is a critical aspect of the job, requiring the Event Specialist to troubleshoot real-time challenges and provide professional representation of Erlanger at all events. Moreover, maintaining detailed records, assessing event outcomes, and continuously improving processes are essential components that support the ongoing success and efficiency of Erlanger’s event programming.

Erlanger values innovation and collaboration, and the Event Specialist contributes directly to these values by bringing events to life with hospitality, precision, and purpose. Reporting directly to the Community Relations Director, the individual fills a central role in the Marketing & Communications department, specifically within the Community Relations team. The role is highly visible, hands-on, and offers the chance to engage meaningfully with a diverse array of stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, community members, donors, and employees.

Overall, the Event Specialist position at Erlanger Health System offers a rewarding career path for someone with experience in event coordination within nonprofit, healthcare, corporate, or agency settings, who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This role is integral to creating experiences that not only celebrate and promote Erlanger but also foster a stronger, healthier community. Candidates who bring a blend of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and interpersonal skills are ideally suited to succeed and make a lasting impact in this vital function.
