Job Description
The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is the largest state public power organization in the United States, committed to delivering clean, low-cost, and reliable energy to communities across New York State. Established to foster economic growth and environmental stewardship, NYPA operates a network of hydroelectric, gas-fired, and renewable energy resources that serve millions of residential and commercial customers. As a forward-thinking organization, NYPA is dedicated to advancing sustainable energy solutions, promoting innovation in the energy sector, and supporting community enrichment throughout the state. The Authority prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion, and fosters a workplace culture that values collaboration, continuous learning, and community engagement.
This role focuses on managing both internal and external communications for NYPA, with a broad scope that includes developing communication strategies, crafting content, and producing materials that effectively convey the organization's vision and initiatives. The position is pivotal in leading the company’s communication efforts, encompassing employee and executive communications, media relations, digital and social media management, creative services, and integrated marketing communications. Through these channels, the individual in this role will promote NYPA's story, strengthen its public reputation, and support thought leadership programs and key communication events that align with the organization’s mission.
The Communications role also involves extensive event management responsibilities. The incumbent will develop and oversee an annual calendar of events, enabling comprehensive long-term planning and efficient execution of conferences, workshops, community programs, and other functions that highlight NYPA’s goals and initiatives. This role requires coordination of logistics such as program formats, itineraries, budgeting, service procurement, venue selection, catering, and supporting technologies. Additionally, the communicator will ensure the creation and distribution of event-related communications, keeping both internal and external stakeholders informed and engaged.
This position requires a proactive, customer-focused individual capable of multitasking and working independently in a dynamic environment, supporting NYPA’s diverse event and communication needs. With up to 25% travel within New York State, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a premier public power organization that values innovation, inclusivity, and impactful community relations. The salary range for this position is $59,000 to $81,400, commensurate with relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
