Job Description

The University of South Carolina is a prestigious public university system that serves the entire state of South Carolina through its eight institutions and 20 locations. Enrolling over 50,000 students across diverse campuses, including the flagship research campus in Columbia and comprehensive universities in Aiken, Upstate, and Beaufort, the University of South Carolina is renowned for its commitment to academic excellence, research, and community service. With satellite campuses offering flexible learning options such as in-person, online, and blended courses, the University ensures accessibility and inclusivity for a broad spectrum of learners. Dedicated to fostering healthier and more educated communities throughout the state and beyond, the University embodies a culture of inclusive excellence, reflected in its diverse programs and initiatives.

The University of South Carolina is currently seeking a highly energetic and organized individual to join its team as an Events Services Coordinator at the iconic Colonial Life Arena (CLA) and Carolina Coliseum. This full-time role is integral to the successful delivery of some of the region's most exciting live entertainment, athletic competitions, and special events. As an Events Services Coordinator, you will be working behind the scenes to ensure the smooth operation and operational excellence of events held at these premier venues. This includes supporting sold-out concerts, championship athletic events, and campus and community activities, all aimed at creating memorable experiences for the guests.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Event Manager(s) and Staffing and Security Manager to coordinate staffing needs for both the front and back of house during events at the Colonial Life Arena. You will work with contracted staffing providers and local first responder organizations to secure essential event-related support. Your oversight will also extend to ensuring adherence to best practices concerning event security and non-event security protocols. Under the guidance of the Staffing and Security Manager, you will help coordinate training and staffing assignments for event staff. Building security will be another vital aspect of your responsibilities, including interaction with local public safety officials to guarantee that every event runs safely and efficiently.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about the sports and entertainment industry who thrive in fast-paced environments and want to be part of one of South Carolina’s most vibrant entertainment hubs. The University of South Carolina supports its employees with valuable benefits such as health and life insurance, retirement programs, paid tuition, dependent scholarships, paid leave including holidays and parental leave, as well as professional development opportunities. This support ensures that team members are empowered to succeed and grow in their careers while contributing to the University’s mission of service and excellence.
