Job Description

Hotel Magdalena and Hotel Saint Cecilia are unique hospitality establishments located in the heart of South Austin, Texas. Together, they offer an extraordinary blend of historic charm and modern luxury, deeply rooted in a rich musical and cultural heritage. Hotel Magdalena honors its past as the Terrace Motor Hotel, a famous mid-century motor lodge in the 1950s and 1960s known for its poolside restaurant, lounge, and live music acts. Today, it continues this legacy by hosting captivating events and programming that reflect its musical lineage and the nostalgic vibe of lake life. Guests can enjoy the dynamic atmosphere of South Congress' backyard through clandestine concerts, visits by renowned chefs, and other engaging experiences designed for both locals and visitors. Hotel Saint Cecilia, built in 1888, is a secluded Victorian-era retreat marked by lush, private grounds centered around a majestic oak tree. The property’s restoration in 2009 added the iconic SOUL sign, symbolizing its eclectic spirit inspired by cultural icons like The Stones and Hunter S. Thompson. With limited suites, bungalows, and studios, the hotel offers an exclusive sanctuary combining old-world elegance with modern irreverence, a hidden gem just steps from South Austin’s bustling core. Both hotels prioritize privacy, luxury, and exceptional guest experiences, making them premier destinations for travelers seeking unique accommodations and memorable events.

The Event Service Manager role at these establishments plays a pivotal role in delivering the vision of the Director of Food & Beverage in close collaboration with the Sales and Marketing team. This full-time position focuses on perfecting the event operations and service delivery to ensure that each guest event is executed flawlessly. The manager guides a dedicated team, fostering a culture of excellence and consistency in both tangible outputs and intangible guest experiences. Responsibilities include overseeing daily event operations, coaching the team to achieve their highest potential, and maintaining high standards of communication, conflict resolution, and policy adherence. The manager acts as a key figure in promoting the company’s culture, values, and reputation among staff, guests, vendors, and partners. Key duties involve continually enhancing operational effectiveness, motivating staff, collaborating cross-departmentally to promote a cohesive environment, and managing financial aspects like labor and cost controls. Emphasis is placed on safety regulations, compliance with liquor laws, and maintaining the quality and cleanliness of event spaces. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and proficient computer skills with systems such as Evention, Toast, and UKG-Dimension. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in food and beverage management and event coordination is preferred, along with a high school diploma or GED; a college degree is favorable. Hotel Magdalena and Hotel Saint Cecilia are equal opportunity employers valuing diversity and inclusiveness and encourage candidates with unique experiences and qualifications to apply.

Offering competitive benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401K with company match, paid time off, room discounts at Hyatt Hotels, wellbeing initiatives like complimentary Headspace access, and various retail discounts, these properties provide a rewarding work environment.
