The Downtown Family YMCA, established in 1964, has long stood as a cherished landmark in the Downtown Boise community. Known for its comprehensive range of fitness and recreational facilities, the YMCA offers its members access to a full basketball court, expansive cardio fitness centers, strength training rooms, racquetball courts, and even a climbing wall. Within this vibrant setting, the Event and Races Team is currently seeking Race Timing Specialists to play an essential role in ensuring the smooth, accurate execution of timing for various YMCA race events. These positions are part-time with irregular schedules, requiring availability for one to twenty hours per week depending on event dates and preparation needs. Responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and managing timing equipment, Race Timing Specialists help deliver flawless race operations and a positive participant experience. Working directly under the guidance of the Events Director, they provide crucial support by maintaining equipment integrity, ensuring timing accuracy, and quickly resolving any technical issues during events.
The role demands high technical proficiency, strong multitasking abilities, and expertise with timing management software such as ChronoTrack and RunSignUp. Job Requirements
- Part-time availability 1-20 hours weekly
- Ability to work irregular hours including event days and preparation days
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail during equipment setup and race timing operations
- Ability to stay calm and handle complications respectfully
- High technical aptitude with race timing software
Job Qualifications
- Hi-technical skills needed
- Must be able to multi-task in the area of timing management and race production
- Strong computer skills
- Must have an understanding of databases
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Knowledge of event timing protocols and ability to create races in ChronoTrack and RunSignUp
Job Duties
- Set up the timing system and ensure proper operations by testing the equipment prior to the event start and as directed by the Event Director
- Operate the timing system for the duration of the event
- Support Events Director with timing system issues
- Assist with set up, break down and managing timing equipment
- Troubleshoot any necessary issues that may arise during the event
- Remain calm and centered during the entirety of the event, work through any complications in a respectful manner
- Take down and return all equipment to its proper place, ensuring items are stored correctly to increase longevity
