Job Description

The Downtown Boise YMCA, a cornerstone community organization since opening its doors in 1964, stands as a vibrant and well-equipped facility dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of its members. Located in the heart of Downtown Boise, this YMCA branch offers a variety of amenities including a full-court basketball gym, a large cardio fitness center, multiple strength training areas, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, five fitness studios, three swimming pools, and several youth programming spaces. The Downtown Boise YMCA’s Event and Races Team is looking for dedicated Race Timing Specialists to join their dynamic team. This part-time irregular position, demanding availability of 1 to 20 hours per week, involves administering and managing timing operations for a wide range of YMCA races. The Race Timing Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless execution of race events by setting up and operating timing systems, troubleshooting equipment, and supporting the Event Director with any timing-related concerns. This role requires strong technical skills, multitasking abilities, and proficiency with relevant software such as ChronoTrack and RunSignUp. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on race days and in the days leading up to events, contributing directly to the success and accuracy of YMCA race events. Job Requirements

  • Part-time irregular schedule available 1-20 hours weekly
  • Availability leading up to and on event dates including irregular and full-day hours
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Strong technical proficiency
  • Experience with race timing software such as ChronoTrack and RunSignUp
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Job Qualifications

  • Hi-technical skills needed
  • Must be able to multi-task in the area of timing management and race production
  • Strong computer skills
  • Must have an understanding of databases
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge of event timing protocols and ability to create races in ChronoTrack and RunSignUp

Job Duties

  • Set up the timing system and ensure proper operations by testing the equipment prior to the event start and as directed by the Event Director
  • Operate the timing system for the duration of the event
  • Support Events Director with timing system issues
  • Assist with set up, break down and managing timing equipment
  • Troubleshoot any necessary issues that may arise during the event
  • Remain calm and centered during the entirety of the event, work through any complications in a respectful manner
  • Take down and return all equipment to its proper place, ensuring items are stored correctly to increase longevity
