The City of Raleigh in North Carolina, known for its vibrant community and dynamic urban environment, operates a variety of cultural and event venues dedicated to enriching the lives of residents and visitors. Among these venues, the Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Center (RCPAC) stands out as a multifaceted complex encompassing the Raleigh Convention Center, Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts, Red Hat Amphitheater, and Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek. These venues collectively serve as focal points for cultural activities, community gatherings, and major economic contributors to the city's cultural reputation and tourism sector. Located in the heart of Raleigh, these venues bring together diverse audiences and play a significant role in promoting Raleigh as a premier destination for the arts and live events. The RCPAC team is committed to operational excellence, flexibility, and high standards of service, ensuring each event leaves a positive impression and supports the city's broader cultural and economic goals.
This job opening pertains to the role of Events Planner at the Red Hat Amphitheater (RHA), an iconic outdoor venue in downtown Raleigh with a seating capacity of 6,000. The amphitheater hosts concerts and major productions that elevate the city’s profile on the national stage. This full-time position offers a salary range from $54,900 to $85,100 annually, with a typical hiring range between $54,900 and $70,000 based on experience and qualifications. The Events Planner is critical in managing all facets of event production, from initial planning and logistics coordination to onsite management and safety oversight. The position requires working variable hours aligned with event schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays during the concert season, while also adapting to standard office hours and on-site needs during the off-season. About the role, the Events Planner is one of two positions charged with ensuring seamless event execution at RHA by overseeing setup, operations, staffing, compliance with policies, and responding proactively to logistical or technical challenges.
Successful candidates are expected to bring strong organizational skills, resilience under pressure, excellent communication capabilities, and a proven customer service orientation. Adaptability and the ability to build long-term client and stakeholder relationships are vital. The job involves balancing creativity with practical concerns such as budget management, risk mitigation, and event marketing. Familiarity with industry trends and best practices is highly valued, as the planner will research and implement new strategies to improve event quality and safety continuously. This position reports to the Amphitheater and Special Events Manager and represents a vital link between the city’s administrative staff, clients, contracted staff, and venue operations teams. Working at RHA offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to Raleigh’s cultural life, develop professional skills, and be part of a dedicated team focused on providing extraordinary public events.
