The Event Manager role at IP Casino Resort Spa is a dynamic position that plays a vital role in the successful execution of group events and meetings. This position involves managing the full life cycle of events, from initial client consultation to post-event follow-up, ensuring that every detail aligns with client expectations and company standards. The Event Manager must be an excellent communicator capable of coordinating with various departments such as Banquets, Culinary, and Hotel Services to secure seamless event operations. The focus is on balancing guest satisfaction with operational efficiency and profitability, requiring skilled negotiation, proactive problem-solving, and a sales-oriented mindset.

Core responsibilities include preparing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), leading client meetings to understand and shape event requirements, advocating for both client and property needs, and maintaining strong client relationships to foster repeat business opportunities. The Event Manager also contributes ideas for growing existing accounts and exploring new revenue streams, thereby driving business growth at the property. Additionally, knowledge of competitive market conditions and an ability to position the property's offerings strategically is essential.

Candidates for this position typically bring a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent background in event management, business, or related fields, combined with one to three years of experience in hospitality or event coordination. Proficiency in software tools such as Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, Salesforce, Delphi, and Sertifi is necessary to manage multiple projects effectively and communicate across departments. The role requires a minimum age of 21 and a demonstrated history of sales and guest service excellence, especially within a casino or hotel resort setting.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in event management, business, or related field
  • One to three years of experience in hospitality or event coordination
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in relevant computer software including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, Salesforce, Delphi, Sertifi
  • Strong project management capabilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of casino or hotel resort group sales preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in event management, business, or related field
  • One to three years of experience in the hospitality industry
  • Broad understanding of managing all aspects of meetings and catered events
  • Proven history of sales and guest service excellence
  • Knowledge of casino or hotel resort hospitality relating to group sales preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, Salesforce, Delphi, Sertifi
  • Strong project management skills managing multiple simultaneous projects

Job Duties

  • Communicate all details surrounding a group event to property in advance of arrival
  • Initiate and conduct planning meetings with clients to understand their vision for the event to accurately articulate their needs with the property
  • Coordinate with appropriate department managers to ensure requests are understood and able to be successfully executed within guest service and profitability metrics
  • Create Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and Group Resumes, reflecting client expectations while offering upgrades to maximize revenues
  • Prioritize accurate and timely communication both with the client and the property
  • Advocate for both the property and the client, ensuring successful and profitable outcomes
  • Lead or participate in departmental meetings including BEO, Resume, and pre/post event consultations
  • Work closely with Banquets, Culinary, Hotel, and leadership to execute client arrangements as contracted
  • Confirm group’s method of payment is verified and review group’s invoice following the event
  • Maintain integrity of the client database
  • Generate ideas to develop existing accounts and identify new business practices to drive revenue
  • Communicate strategies and suggestions to Director of Sales and Sales Managers to maintain loyalty
  • Build and retain client relations resulting in exceptional guest service and repeat business
  • Engage in a sales-focused atmosphere promoting sales growth
  • Maintain knowledge of competitor’s sales and convention programs to compete effectively
  • Maintain knowledge of all property promotions to stimulate and retain business
  • Maintain a positive professional image at all times
  • Perform related duties as assigned by department leadership
  • Create opportunities to upsell during event planning
  • Ensure synchronicity through planning for operational efficiencies and profitability
  • Follow standards to meet profitability targets
  • Create an atmosphere that meets or exceeds guest expectations
  • Set a positive example for team members and guests
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on quality and service standards
  • Respond to and handle situations requiring service recovery
  • Strive to improve service performance
  • Emphasize guest satisfaction and continuous improvement in meetings
