Job Description

Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, renowned for its commitment to delivering excellent guest experiences across its extensive portfolio of hotels and resorts. Among its distinguished brands is JW Marriott, a luxury segment within Marriott's portfolio that encompasses over 100 properties located in gateway cities and distinctive resort destinations worldwide. JW Marriott hotels are celebrated for providing an immersive luxury experience paired with a strong emphasis on associate well-being, training, and development, nurturing a diverse and passionate workforce. At JW Marriott, the philosophy is that happy associates create happy guests, fostering a culture of confidence, innovation, authenticity, and intuition, all inspired by the legacy of the company founder, J. Willard Marriott. The brand prides itself on community and camaraderie, offering meaningful opportunities for growth within a holistic and supportive luxury environment, famously referred to as The JW Treatment.

The Event Manager role at JW Marriott Houston, located at 1777 Walker St, Texas, represents a vital management position within the event management category, offering a full-time schedule with an annual pay range between $65,000 and $83,000, including eligibility for bonuses. This position focuses on coordination and seamless execution of events of average complexity, ensuring outstanding service from the initial sales engagement through the conclusion of the event. The role demands a proactive approach to event documentation preparation, collaboration among sales teams, property departments, and customers to guarantee a consistent high-level service throughout all event stages — pre-event, during the event, and post-event phases.

Key responsibilities involve managing logistics such as group room blocks and meeting spaces, resolving operational challenges by liaising between sales and service teams and adopting innovative event management trends. The Event Manager is expected to deliver exceptional customer service, acting as the customer's primary point of contact, responding promptly to issues, and using personal judgment to enhance event experiences. Leadership duties include conducting pre- and post-event meetings to coordinate team efforts and incorporating customer feedback to continually improve service levels. This role also requires active participation in sales support, including upselling opportunities and assisting with revenue forecasting.

Furthermore, the position involves human resource functions such as reviewing guest feedback with employees, observing service performance, providing constructive feedback, and implementing corrective action plans when necessary. The Event Manager is entrusted with fostering a guest-centric environment where all employees understand their roles and expectations to contribute to flawless event execution and high guest satisfaction.

At JW Marriott, becoming an Event Manager means joining a vibrant global team committed to excellence, continuous improvement, and creating memorable moments for guests in a luxury setting. The company values diversity, inclusivity, and equal opportunity employment, ensuring that every associate feels they belong and can thrive in their career. For professionals with a background in event management or hospitality, this role offers a unique opportunity to elevate their career within a prestigious and supportive brand, driving both personal and professional growth.
