Job Description
California Online Public Schools (CalOPS) is a respected network of six tuition-free, WASC-accredited online public schools that serve students across the state of California. Since 2004, CalOPS has been dedicated to providing exceptional virtual education experiences that emphasize not only academic excellence but also the holistic growth of students. The organization is committed to making education accessible and flexible, ensuring students from elementary through high school receive tailored learning opportunities that fit their individual needs. Driven by a mission to believe, connect, and empower with empathy, CalOPS fosters lifelong strategies that support a positive and successful future for every student. CalOPS operates as a charter school network, offering a high degree of curriculum flexibility that allows it to adapt quickly to student needs while maintaining high educational standards. The organization is known for its inclusive, diverse work culture that promotes equity, transparency, and community engagement, making it a premier employer in the education sector in California.
The Events Manager position at California Online Public Schools is an integral role that focuses on the planning, management, and execution of large-scale, schoolwide in-person events, field trips, and other engagement opportunities for students and families across the elementary, middle, and high school programs. This is a full-time, remote position specifically available to candidates residing in California, with a salary range of $87,600 to $114,827.04 annually. Beginning August 3, 2026, the Events Manager will be responsible for coordinating these events with precision and an extensive awareness of California’s diverse regions and logistical landscape. The role requires a dynamic individual who can efficiently liaise with school leaders, teachers, vendor partners, families, and community organizations to craft safe, compliant, and impactful events that align with CalOPS’s educational mission. The position demands robust organization and independent decision-making capabilities, excellent project management skills to handle multiple concurrent projects, and a keen ability to maintain high communication standards across departments. Given that the role requires frequent statewide travel, proficiency in managing extensive travel logistics across at least two distinct regions in California is essential. The successful candidate will bring experience in venue sourcing, permitting, vendor coordination, and the development of standardized communication templates to facilitate smooth event operations. In addition, the Events Manager is expected to be adept in using event tracking tools and virtual platforms to coordinate and monitor ongoing projects while ensuring that events comply with safety and regulatory requirements. This role plays a vital part in enhancing the school community experience by providing meaningful touchpoints where students, families, and staff can engage beyond the virtual classroom; thus, it is instrumental in supporting student morale and community cohesion throughout the school year. Being a remote position with frequent travel obligations, it allows the right professional the unique opportunity to engage with diverse Californian communities while contributing significantly to an innovative education model that champions student success beyond academics.
