Job Description

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) is a compassionate and dedicated nonprofit organization serving the Colorado Springs and Pueblo communities. Known for providing socially conscious sheltering, compassionate care to animals, and supporting safe communities, HSPPR has become a trusted and vital resource for animal welfare in the region. The organization is committed not only to rescuing and protecting animals but also to fostering a strong community of animal lovers and supporters. HSPPR’s mission goes beyond sheltering; it encompasses building meaningful donor relationships, promoting responsible pet ownership, and creating a supportive network of volunteers, sponsors, and community partners. Their events are more than just fundraisers—they are celebrations of compassion, generosity, and community spirit that directly fuel the organization’s lifesaving work.

The Events Manager at HSPPR plays a crucial leadership role in driving the success and impact of the organization’s fundraising initiatives. This full-time position is responsible for overseeing the planning, budgeting, execution, and post-event evaluation of a diverse portfolio of high-profile fundraising and donor engagement events. These include the Fur Ball, the organization’s premier gala attracting over 500 guests and raising more than $800,000 annually, the popular Pawtoberfest Dog Walk & Beer Fest with over 2,000 attendees, the Whisker Brunch supporting the Pueblo community, as well as various donor stewardship events, Happy Tails Happy Hours, third-party fundraisers, and community partnerships.

The successful candidate will lead the entire event lifecycle, from conceptual ideation to the celebration of record-breaking fundraising results. The role requires a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and meticulous organizational skills to produce extraordinary donor experiences centered on hospitality, gratitude, and stewardship. The Events Manager will collaborate closely with the Marketing & Communications team to lead event marketing efforts and manage digital tools such as event websites, ticketing, auctions, email campaigns, and fundraising platforms. Building and nurturing strong relationships with sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and community partners is also a key element of the role.

In addition to managing event logistics, contracts, timelines, and budgets, the Events Manager will oversee procurement of auction items to maximize fundraising success. Mentorship responsibilities include supervising the Events Specialist and leading large teams of volunteers and cross-departmental staff. This role demands someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, capable of managing multiple complex projects under deadlines while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor. The position offers a hybrid work schedule after completing training and 90 days of employment but requires availability for evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays during peak event seasons.

By joining HSPPR as the Events Manager, you become part of a passionate, mission-driven team committed to making a meaningful difference for animals and people in the community. Your work will create events that inspire generosity, build community connections, and provide vital resources that enable HSPPR to save and improve animal lives. If you have a passion for event planning, fundraising, and animal welfare, this position provides a unique opportunity to channel your talents into an organization that values compassion, stewardship, integrity, excellence, collaboration, and service.
