The Event Manager role at Renaissance Hotels in New Orleans is a full-time, management-level position offering an annual salary range of $56,000 to $72,000, with eligibility for bonuses. This vital role focuses on overseeing the planning and execution of events from the initial documentation phase through to the post-event wrap-up, ensuring seamless coordination with sales teams, property departments, and customers. Customer service excellence is paramount, with the Event Manager charged with delivering top-tier service at every phase. This includes greeting customers, handling their concerns, following up post-event, and continuously seeking feedback to improve service quality. The manager acts as a role model for guest relations, supports and empowers hourly employees, and ensures clear communication of event details to all involved parties.
In addition to operational duties, the role involves human resource activities such as reviewing guest feedback, providing performance feedback to employees, assisting in corrective action plans, and fostering an environment of continuous service improvement. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-2 years experience in event management or related field
- OR 2-year degree from accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field
- At least 1 year of experience in event management or related professional area
- Ability to manage event logistics and operations
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Effective communication skills
- Capacity to lead and facilitate meetings
- Willingness to work full time on site in New Orleans, Louisiana
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and problem-solve under pressure
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 1-2 years of event management experience
- OR 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field with at least 1 year of event management experience
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage event logistics and operations
- Leadership experience in managing teams and conducting meetings
- Familiarity with event revenue forecasting and sales support
- Ability to handle guest complaints and provide solutions
- Proactive problem-solving skills and judgment
- Knowledge of current trends in event management and event design
Job Duties
- Prepare event documentation and coordinate with sales, property departments, and customers
- Ensure seamless event progression by following procedures and collaborating with teams
- Greet customers during events and transition to Event Operations for execution
- Manage billing accuracy and conduct client bill reviews
- Oversee group room blocks and meeting space for average to large-sized groups
- Identify and solve operational challenges
- Act as liaison between field salesperson and customer throughout event phases
- Participate in customer site inspections and assist sales process
- Deliver excellent customer service and empower employees
- Conduct formal pre- and post-event meetings
- Assist in sales process and revenue forecasting
- Up-sell products and services during events
